loss in torque!!

Ever since i enstalled my intake(K&N typhoon)i feel like i loss some torque and some bottom end power. However, i did feel better throttle response at higher RPMs. How can i solve this problem? Will getting a cat back exhaust help me gain more bottom end power/torque? Not so sure what to do.....

Put the stocker back on if you want the torque back.

I heard K&N is a very bad intake. Don't bother with AEM either cause its giving me problems. I suggest hks RS, or any filter (k&n, PE, greddy, apexi).

just so you know, i dont believe any intake or exhaust even is going to give you better low down torque considering the fact that both are items to try and help improve flow. and generally where the flow really matters is in the upper RPM band and that is also where you will see your HP gains. generally, items that restrict the flow will adjust your torque band a little lower since you wont flow near as much on top and thus, will actually lose some HP due to the torque band being shifted back in the RPM band.

Yep.. partly the larger intake and the filter actually lowers the speed of the air through the MAF sensor.. so it affects the MAF reading (lower reading means leaner) but it also affects the idle and several other minor things.. Its the tradeoff to the bigger less restrictive pipe and filter. There are also tuning anomolies when dealing with this stuff too...

I had the K&N also and had the same issue, the thing pulled good down low but fell on it's face after about 4500. I think the main problem is that it is sucking air from the engine bay (which is about a jillion degrees) versus the factory snorkel which only draws air from the front of the car.

I really miss the sound of the K&N though.

I went back to the factory box with a K&N drop-in. Pulls just like it used to but you can hear it spool a little more.
