Question Where would I take oil cooler to have it flushed?

When my engine went south there were all sorts of pieces of debree in the oil pan, intake manifold and exhaust manifold. I am just about posotive that some of these pieces are in the oil cooler as well. Once I have everything bach togather I do not want these stray pieces to find their way back into the engine, so where would I take it to have it thoroughly flushed? Possibly sonicly cleaned and flushed at the same time to make sure that all of the pieces were shaken loose. If anyone has any ideas then please let me know, thanks.

Get a new oil cooler. You could never be sure you got all the debris out and it would really suck to blow a new motor because of some crap from the old one. You should probably replace all the oil lines to and from the cooler as well.

Is the oil cooler inline after the filter or before the filter? If it's after the oil filter and before the engine I wouldn't worry about it. But either way just take it off yourself and blow it out.

Are there any aftermarket oil coolers available to for the evo8? And where can we get them because that would always be a good mod and add longevity.

I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get a better core and replace the factory unit. I bet you could replace the lines and fittings for under $500.

I don't think it's worth 1700 dollars!

$1700 is pretty steep. Look and see what Setrab has. Bring your lines to a local speed shop and see if they could make you a reasonably priced set.

Pacific Oil Cooler in LA does FAA ceritfied work on oil coolers and intercoolers. If that isn't good enough, then chances are the contamination within a new OEM unit wouldn't be acceptable to you. I'd guess less than $100 for an inspection and flush. It's been awhile since I did the unit on an old 911 I had.

That $1700 kit is absurdly priced. I'm guessing you could order every thing you need directly from Mocal in the UK and it would cost about 1/3.

Use an entire can of transmission cooler fluid flush. I used it, it works.

Or get a gallon jug of parts cleaner and soak it then rinse it with more parts cleaner it should pull all the debris out of the cooler then run a quarts of some junk oil through it just to get all the cleaner out.

yeah the fluid flush is nothing but parts cleaner with a plastic fitting to attatch to the cooler.

Either get it flushed or buy a new cooler. A Setrab cooler will cost you a under $$500.00 with linea and fittings and will be much nicer than the factory. How mechanical are you? It would not be hard to plumb a new cooler. BTW a Setrab cooler would be more effective than the stock unit.

Where can we get aftermarket oil coolers? I need to replace my stock one, and I'm sure the Setrab will be just as much if not cheaper than OE, and probably better as well.

Are there any other brands?

We sell em' at BRITS! Give me a call Monday. (707) 935-3637, swamped today!

MOCAL, I believe that C&R also does one. Setrab units are very reliable and not super spendy!
