When should I have oil changed on my EVO? If there is a link just delete.

Hey guys.

Just got my VIII the other day and the dealer told me to get my oil changed every 5000 miles. Apparently that's the warranty or it's in the manual, either way...

That seemed a little high especially on these cars. I would figure it's more around 3000, no? Can I take it into them when I hit 3000 or do you think they are gonna sit there and tell me come back in 2000? If I do my own oil should I keep the receipts? I just don't want any problems. I'm no car guru like most of you here.

Not an evo owner, but if you take it into the dealer for an oil change, they will not deny you service...

Or you could just change it yourself!

major overkill

every 5k miles or so is good, especially with the synthetic oil.

I changed mine at 1000mi on the odo and every 3000mi after that.

Better safe than sorry; I bought mine and plan on years of reliability.

This is synthetic oil..... If you drive your car pretty hard, I would suggest you change your oil every 3700 miles. If you don't drive it very hard, 5000 miles oil changes are fine.

First one at 1000 then I'm going to stick with my free ones every 5000 miles. This is synthetic oils so I think every 2500 miles seems too much, but each person knows how they drive their cars so in some cases, when its getting tracked on the weekends and seeing launches at every red light, it may call for every 1000 mile changes.
