Our tiny turbo spools fast and makes mad boost at low rpm's. On the highway, it just runs outta steam.

Combine that with our "rally-inspired" gearing and you get a car that is more in tune with city driving than highway.

Besides, @80mph, your at 3200rpm anyway, just laying into it in fifth is enough to spool and pass most anyone anyway.

Highway

With VISHNU tunning stage 1, cam gears and exhaust I pulled on a STi with easy on track. They don't have the same top end as the EVO. I also pulled on 350Z with easy also. Tunning is the key for top end.

WHy would you want 5th?

4th gear on EVO is sick. A tunned EVO VISHNU stage 1 will pull-on R32. I have pulled on STI with 300WHP and 350Z.

When I raced STI with 300WHP I bogged launch but was able to catch up to the STI on last 1/8 of a 1/4 mile track.

If you compare the stats from most magazines youll see that the R32 has a much lower speed in the 1/4mile and thats the end of fourth gear. The STI and evo are almost always dead even so it will be a drivers race. Im sure after the quarter mile an STI will win due to it having a six speed. The R32 also benefits from a six speed but its so far behind that you would have to race until top speed for it to catch up

now he dont even stand a chance, he is still waiting to do more work to the sti but options now is very limited.

My evo 351WHP
His sti 326WHP

we spend the same amt of money on mods.

I would have to say, with my experiance on the interstates that my Evo was kind of weak campared to other sports cars (80mph+) but when i got the Greddy e-01 and Full turbo back w/ cat delete, it changed the whole power curve, w/ boost at 21 to redline (93 pump) our cars can rip ***!!!!!

I have an VIII and my friend has an sti. We start from 65MPH and he pulls on me! He always beats me by 3-4 cars overall. We are both stock. He always busts my chops about it. If you launch the EVO from the break-down lane, you can feel the power hold back at 5000RPMs. The STI has a bigger displacement plus 6 gears. That helps. I kick his *** all the time in the 1/4. Downpipe, exhaust, cat-delete, and ECU reflash, and I'll have his *** on the highway. BUT HE STILL CAN'T BEAT ME WHEN I'M DRIVING MY INTEGRA W/ 15PSI. LOL.

above 60mph, How is the EVO compared with BMW M3 2003?

All I can say is that my EVO reach 155mph effortlessly... (just a drop in air filter)

I've run a few R32s, they've been stock AFAIK, I'm stock - it's a fun ride, but I can reel them in whenever.

boost control, exhaust, and intake all of these will help evo at the top end. but i personally think that the cam will help the best as I hear a lot of people saying that such as pair of 272's makes the car pulls like crazy. I totally believe that. Everyone must understand, why a stock EVO weak on top end compare to those big boys because in Japan the goverment limits car's hp to 280 hp, so there is still a lot of potential hidden inside. I watch so many video from Japan, and I have seen a earlier generation EVO achieve the speed of 300km/h.

i think the Evo is very quick up to 110mph, beyond that...well who cares, many cars can pull on the Evo up top, we dont rountinely drive pass 100mph anyways(jail time here in Ca.), the debate of who pulls on who is kinda pointless, IMO

the evo feels faster around the city. once on the highway its not as mean anymore. highway is for supras and such...2wd

i'd feel safer driving faster in the rain and snow though of course with the right tires.

im at around 290-300whp and i think 4th gear pulls pretty good. 5th gear its slow!!

how many times in the real world, due you have to think about this. maybe its because i have never even got in it with a sti or even been in the same lane of traffic as a R32. i would imagine though that i would never have to worry about racing an sti, on the street, where i dont have to make turns or worry about more traffic, or something that would give us a full out race, where he would have the oppurtunity to blow by me doing 80. if you are that worried about spend the 3-4k more on the motor, that the guy spent on the sti, and bam no more issues. i just dont see this happening ever.
