Difference between 52mm and 60mm gauges

I'm going to be going to a new setup in the next few months, craigh hardy panel + 3 new gauges. My question is, are there any major differences, besides the size obviously, between the 2 sized gauges? Is one better than the other? The gauges I want (stewart warner) come in either size as well as the panel so i can go either way. Anyone prefer one size over the other?

I prefer 60mm just cause obviously they're bigger thus making them easier to read when your driving.

I've read there are some 60mm gauges which won't fit in the dash using the Craig Hardy panel. Some 60mm may be too deep.

This thread has some pics of the 52 Omori gauges. You have to be careful with the depth of the gauges with the Craighardy Panel -- I believe Ludikraut had to bend the radio mount slightly even for the 52s.

I personally like the Defi BF Red

i have omori multicolor 60mm gauges in the craig hardy panel and i did have to cut some material out from behing the dash and bend off a little of the top right radio mount so the gagues would fit it

Yep, had to bend the stock radio bracket a little bit to the side to fit the Omoris. But like the say ... out of sight, out of mind.

... dang and a bunch of ppl beat me to the 8mm remark!

Personally I like the 52mm gauges better. To me the 60mm gauges just look too big. Ultimately it just comes down to personal taste.

If I got to you, I'm victorious.

It really depends on which gauge application you're going for. Are you going for the electronic or mechanical?

There is no difference between the mechanic inside of the gauges besides that 60mm is 8mm bigger than 52 mm gauges.

Just more material on 60mm and they have more room to put more feature on 60mm than 52mm.

That's why I said 8mm.

I don't think that a 60mm electronic gauge is any deeper in dimensions than a 52mm, though I could be wrong. If you go with the Craighardy Panel you might be limited to a 52mm gauge.

I personally prefer the 60mm because of the bigger gauge face, and I like mine in the A-pillar.

But to each his own, get what YOU want!
