Did I break something?

So, I make like 4 or 5 passes down the 1320 this weekend and aside from getting some really crummy times there doesnt seem to be any problems. Car runs fine. I leave the track with like 1/8 tank of gas and drive to the interstate nice and easy. Before getting onto the interstate, I fill up the tank with 93 octane.

I pull out of the gas station and nail it to catch up to a camaro that I want to "toy" with. As soon as the boost gauge gets up to like 18-19psi the car jerks so bad I thought I might have hit something. Right after that, everytime boost comes in, I hear a loud "whooosh" sound like Im pissing out boost somewhere.

SO...Im like wtf? and I pull over and can't see anything standing out that's wrong...all hoses intact and connected where they're supposed to be.

I take back off and again it "jerks" really hard at high boost. So I baby the car for the 1.5 hour trip home.

It does this nearly every time now, and the "whoosh" is still there. Im going to crawl under the car tomorrow and check the lower I/C plumbing for the source of the whooshing sound.

Could the "jerk" be the knock sensor shutting the car down or whatever? I thought it might have backfired the first time due to bad gas and blew a hose loose or something...but I've already ran that tank out and refilled it with gas from the station I usually use....and it still "jerks" and I just got a SES light tonight. I dont have a code reader so I dont know what the code is.

I do have a MBC, but it is set for 19psi. The lower I/C piping is the Greddy kit. There are no other mods.

get that code checked somewhere
do you have autozones by where you are at? most of them will let you use their obdII reader to pull your code.

Hey man what's up. that sux about your car. did you go up to beach bend. I wanna go up there in november when I get my exhaust on. good luck with your car. if your getting a whoosh sound with higher boost levels you've probably got a leak. could be from taking your oem ic piping off and then putting it back on. good luck.

Solution

For those of you who care, I found the problem. I was leaking a LOT of boost pressure from a cut/hole on one of the rubber I/C couplings. It must have been cracked or something and at 20psi it just blew through.

Replaced it and it runs great.
