All red Evo owners!
Well dont know if you guys read my post about lemon lawing my car. I have a red Evo and everytime i buff or wax the paint bleeds of the car. I thought it was maybe dead paint but it continues to do it. Took it to mitsu yesterday and spoke with the factory rep, he was real nice compared to other factory reps that are ***holes. Told him about my concern with the paint and documented everything,he even offered to fix my car for any tsb's if any came up and showed me the current tsbs!!Said if it started to fade then they would cover under warranty but i said i dont want the car repainted since its new. Took it today my dad's friend's shop and the guy told me that it should not do that, also told me that it looks like the paint does not have a clear coat. What are we supposed to do? I mean we get new cars and in not even 6 months paints starts to come off!!
Please post:
Year:
Time youve had car:
Paint issue if any:
Taken to dealer yes/no?
What was done by dealer?
Im still going to pursue a lemon law b/c this is unacceptable. Are we supposed to just have our cars repainted every few years? Common! Please post any issues and concerns about this.

Can you take any pics? I haven't had any major problems with my rally red.. I do have a few "ghost" spots caused by bird ****. Also my mirrors look faded compared to the rest of the car.
Just curious what waxes are you using? I've used Zaino for about a year and I'm extremely happy with the results.

The rally red paint on mine is oxidizing on the hood at a more rapid rate than is on the fenders. The plastic fades at different rates than the metal parts. The mirrors are the worst. I keep my car protected from the sun (we have 110 115 Summer heat). I keep the car in my garage, I have a high quality car cover for it and use Meguiar's past wax on a regular basis. I have to say that the overall paint quality on the four Mitsu's I have bought since "00" is decent and cosnsitent. The wife's Diamonte was built in Austrailia, the Eclipse GTs were built in Illinois, and the Evo in Japan. All of my cars were purchased from Miller Auto Center (Cadillac, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Suzuki) Redding CA.
I've had mine since January '04, with no real problems. The hood had some scratches on it from that white protective vynyl crap. So they buffed that out right away, and my first wax I had all kinds of red on the towel. Since then, I've not had a hint of red anytime I wax it. I use Zymol and the little round applicator pads and a towel to buff. The only other time I've had red come off was when I debadged it and used Goo Gone to get the remnants of the glue off. Other than that no paint bleeding and no fading from what I can see.
There is a thread about the lack of clear coat in Evo paints in the forums already..and how it relates to the red color.
And its a LONG one..
A search should do ya good on this one. We have already beat this one to death. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll help search it out.
