Im sorry, that is incorrect. Powdercoating ovens are only at around ~400 degrees. Your wheels will NOT become brittle at that temp. I have powdercoated DOZENS of styles of rims, factory AND aftermarket never had 1 problem with that. Besides 400 degrees is not a high enough temp to change the characteristics of the metal.

Chroming will make the wheels brittle. The reason chrome rims are so heavy is that the metal they use has different characteristics that allow for higher temps and resistance to the chemicals used in the chroming process.

Spraypainting your rims is silly. If you want to paint stuff on your car with spraypaint, sell your EVO and go buy a Civic.

If you spraypaint (or even proffessionally paint) your rims, everytime a small rock or anything hits them as you are speeding down the road, the paint will chip off and it will look like crap.

Powdercoating is the way to go.

I agree and disagree. All the powder coat places I've been to have told me they will not cure ALUM wheels at anything over 275. Usally 250. ENKEI told me if I wanted to PC my wheels to use low cure temp powders. A powder that cures at around 250-275. 400 can change cause the metal to change and can cause inner stress fractures that can only be seen through x-ray. This is coming from ENKEI and severl PC places.
