IMO, the aluminum roof is meager. Sure, it helps... but I'm not going to get rid of my GSR for a MR just because of the roof. When something breaks on my car, I'll get the MR counterpart instead, and until then, the GSR is just as capable.

i had a WRX wagon with 280hp, after driving the MR, let me tell u, it is a hell great car in overall performance. not only the power. the power, i will say my WRX wagon is just missing the 6-speed tranny. WRX's rumbling boxer engine is very fun and gives you very good power.
handling wise, MR will probably be the best japanese production car i have ever driven. i am sure it will put S4, M3, S2000, and all other american muscle cars under $80000 on the street in shame, stock to stock.

i still miss my beautiful WRX wagon.....the spacy wagon.....

dont know what people are talking about the six speed gearing is beautiful, not a bit sloppy I like it better than the gsr. (this comeing from someone who has both cars in the family, diff states but I have had plenty of time behind the wheel of the others) I paid 35000 for my MR. Now when your talking in the 40's I wouldnt bother because that is WAY to much money.
6 speed in definately worth it and when you add everything else, roof, wheels, shocks, pedals, & gauges, ACD, FLSD, an exclusive MR only color, 10/100 warranty, 3/36 free scheduled maintenance ++++ having one of 1000 for the year and one of a few (if that) in your city is priceless!

The more and more I think about the MR I am glad they were not available right away. I bought my evo within 2 months of coming to America. I know if the MR was here I would have got it. Now that all new evos have the active center diff and front helical limited slip diff I see no reason to buy the MR. I even drive a lot on the highway so the 6th gear would be nice. I'm happy with 5 speeds.

So what all would you need for the 6spd tranny to work on a regular EVO? Do you need the ECU(or some kind of electronics) because of the ACD electronics\control that comes in the 6spd tranny?

DJrice, I truely have no reason to make that up. look at the autocross results from the oct 30th weekend (Marin Thomas). go down to the AS section. I'm a great autocrosser and I won the class even after I clipped two cones (4sec penalty) (I ran dirty all day long because I was still adjusting to the quick steering ratio of the MR in relative to my previous STI). MY CO-driver, Perry ran PAS, look at his time in relation to the SS (superstock cars) and those guys are solid experinced autocrossers. DO notice the huge gap between the MR and the rest of the pack. The MR posted FTD that day.

Also check out this thread. My reputation has been pretty solid. I don't talk shiet that I cannot back up.

No need for me to make up lies. I'm not trying to gain anything here. I was actually quite surprise when I ran the 13.8 with a passenger. and if you go back to that nasioc thread, you will even see people video taping teh performance.

So to put it bluntly, yes I ran a 13.8 the very first time I dragged. The MR had 600 or 700 miles on it at the time. And yes I did have a passenger. Honestly I do not consider 13.8 to be that great but hey like I said earlier I was just having fun and I wanted to see what the big deal was about drag racing.

Off topic, but: Yea the "standard" EVO is, in the US, an EVO. Calling this car a GSR is just an easy way to distinguish between the RS, MR and what ever you want to call the other trim level.

Nahh... I have waited long enough to finally take the plunge. Mitsu marketing has finally given me enough reasons to have to have the Evo.

I agree somewhat, but on the otherhand how will you fell when someone in there modified evo tears you up on the track and spent less money
I would "feel" like they could have 1000HP, but still never have an MR
Money is a bigger object those who do not make enough themselves. I work my **** off for a living and my reward is not having to worry about scraping the bottom of the barrel to get the base model Evo when a better one is available. Unfortunately many did not have the option of an MR when they bought theirs.

For the record I was set on an '05 GSR SSL for months, but after giving it some thought and getting a good deal on an MR, my decision was made.
