Shifting Techniques
Shifting Techniques
Can someone explain the mechanics, benefits, and detriments to "lift shifting", "power shifting" and "speed shifting". If you can think of other techniques I haven't mentioned, which I'm sure their are plenty, please add them.
Power shifting is where you accecelerate hard in first or 2nd, and right in the middle of the powerband, while keeping the pedal to the floored to the ground shift into the next gear, this causes your rpms to soar, and hits the next gear right in its powerband...basically making the tires light up and launches you like crazy

Btw.. powershifting is hard on your clutch and gears, and if you dont shift fast enough ull hit the revlimiter and start bouncing off of it which isnt good as well.. But man does it launch you

I would guess that "lift shifting" is how we all shift on a regular basis, lifting off the throttle between shifts. Power shifting and speed shifting I thought were pretty much the same thing...someone correct me if I'm wrong.
i thought speed shifting is just normal shifting at a speedier(duh) rate done in order to keep the rpms from dropping down to much. why would you want to keep your foot on the throttle when engaging the clutch unless you were launching from a stop.
