New EVO info
New EVO info
I just got this info today from the Midwest Regional Sales Manager for Mitsubishi.
There will be 5000 EVOs imported next year. Dealers are supposed to start receiving them in mid-July. HP should be 265-275 and is currently unknown do to it's still being in the process of meeting US emissions standards. Pricing should be $25,000-30,000. Cars will be allocated based on region, then by how quickly a particular dealer sells their first EVO models. (The west coast will get more EVOs than the midwest because more cars, in general, are sold on the west coast.) There are approx. 600 Mitsubishi dealers in the US. The Indianapolis dealers are expected to get 3-4 EVOs each.
I'm #1 on the list

Hey there all!
I'm new here....and I'm just kinda hopin to get as much info. on Evo's as I can.
I just went down to the local Mitsubishi dealer in Minnesota this last weekend and threw down a $500 deposit to reserve a 2003 Evo VII.
Here's what they dealer guy told me about the US version. Yah, I know I'm not supposed to listen to what dealers have to say 'cause they're just trying to get me to buy, but this was already after I had put down the deposit.
They're selling it to me for MSRP. He said MSRP will FOR SURE be under $30,000.
As far as the car goes; the usual applies: 275 bhp, TT, AWD, leather interior, moonroof, possibly the Mitsubishi 4-disc in-dash changer, infinity sound system. He also mentioned the possibility of it coming in a 6-speed....which I found interesting.
He told me I'm not really gonna have much choice on color as I'm the 5th person at that dealer alone to per-order. I'm hopin fer blue tho.
Well...here's to fast cars and fast women

Dealers in MA
I've been calling a bunch of dealers in Massachusetts. Some have no information but the bigger dealerships are saying that the car will be here in 2002 as a 2003. I've heard anything from March delivery to August delivery timeframe. Most are not taking people on a wait list yet. Some have said they will start accepting orders in the Jan.-Feb. timeframe. Some have also said that it won't be much different from the Japan model.
Hopefully we'll see some specs soon!

My information was from the regional sales manager, so I suspect that it is pretty accurate. According to him, the car had still not been finalized with the US DOT for emissions. I'm sure that he would have told more, if he had the information.
Of the three dealers around me, one hasn't called back, one won't be taking pre-orders until February and the other one accepted my $100 and put me first on the list for every single EVO that they get in 2002! They will all come pretty fully equipped, so the only real option that I want to be sure of getting is the Sports ACD.
As for TT, dream on! I sure hope it doens't come in a 6-speed. I want the jap-spec tried and true 5-speed. I also don't want leather, unless it's leather covered Recaros.

Leather? Has there ever been an Evo that had leather?
As for the 6-speed, there have been rumors for a while now that the JDM model would be getting a 6-speed next model year. It makes sense, since that is a major selling point for the STi over the Evo VII. We'll just have to wait and see.

Hey like I said....I was just repeating what he told me. I rarely believe anything a dealer tells me.
I'll believe something from a forum like this before I take their word.
That's all I gots ta say 'bout that
