Front wheel drive MR
Front wheel drive MR
Anyone notice that in the '05 owners manual for the MR it states the "center diff dissengages at -13 degrees or lower"
It seems this can also be done by pulling the e brake

It's the electronic center differential. It makes the rear diff open, i.e. mostly 2wd. You could fool the computer by tapping into the e-brake switch wire, and it would unlock the center diff.

I read about this in 05 manual. I dont know anything about it other than that. I havent tried puling the ebrake yet. I think its crazy that if your in -13 degree weather the all wheel drive system takes a smoking break till it warms up. Seems like some owners in the northern states might actually want thier 4 wheel drive to be active in very cold weather. 300hp and front wheel drive problably aint great in the snow!
I also wonder if you could, with the e brake on, floor it, release the clutch, spin the fronts to the limiter for a few secs, and when the light goes green release the ebrake. I realize this sounds like a great way to kill the transfer case and would never do that but I was wondering if its possible.
