If you drive another Evo besides one thats has been raped at thge dealership by countless people. I think you will find it different. The torque is a lot lower than your Z06 but you will have almost the same performance in a straight line for about 3k or less depends on who's parts you buy plus if take a look at the Car&Driver Highspeed shootout you will see how well the Evo can brake shorter and pull a faster slalom and with a little suspenion tweaking it can out pull it on the skidpad. Talk to some of the local Evo guys in your area to give you a real test drive with someone who is use to the car it makes a world of a difference in your impression of the car trust me.

I know what you mean. I had a 97 corvette untill last year. It was fast as hell, but I can't even compare it to the Evo for all around fun to drive. I have an '05 with an HKS turbo-back, Greddy EBC set at 21Lbs, Apex SAFC II, JDM MR BOV, HKS RS intake and a cat delete. The car now accelerates faster than the Vette, and cornering and braking with this car is in a whole other league. These mods, or even less for that matter, totally transforms the car.
I traded a 98 cobra for the evo and i have to admit the first time i test drove the evo i wasnt impressed.....I wasnt allowed to take the rmp over 3000. Only After I made my purchase and some spiritted driving was when i realized that my trade was the best thing i did. I was spoilled by the amount of torque v8's offer at the blip of a throttle...but was amazed by the agility of the evo.....and absolutely thrilled when at full boost.
If your looking for gobs of torque at the bottom end and doing burn outs and donuts....the evo is'nt for you! but if you want a sedan that can handle and outperform most sport coupes found on everyday streets.....an evo or even a sti is a way to go. When Modded its an entirely dfferent beast

I could but a sti and have BOV, turbo back exhaust, front mount, SAFC, and some other things, bring it in under warranty and they would fix stuff. I know cause my friend did it already.

I drove the evolution for the second time today and it felt like a dawg. It never went anywhere. I drive a 2002 corvette zo6 381rwhp. Contemplating whether to get rid of it and get an evolution or sti. It seems all i need to do is heads cam and be killing any evolution that roles up on be on the highway and wil nitto DR from a dig i will be running mid 10's. Not sure what to do. WHats everyone else opinion. Like the outside of the evolution but the performance isnt there. PLEASE HELP. Also anyone know of any new cars comming out from nissan in the next two years that will be turbo, or dramatic improvements in the volution by 2006.
Anoyne feel the evolution was underpowered or am i just spoiled with the corvette.

Hey I'm gonna have to say get the EVO. I had a 2002 Zo6. I like the Evo Better. I traded my 2002 Zo6 for a 2003 Evo, and now I have a 2005 MR. I had the Vette for a year and a half.. In that year I had the AC break twice. Passenger window motor not work on ocassion. And most of all the power door locks would work only half of the time. When I traded in my Vette I had 5400 miles on the car. So the car was never abused or neglected. In my personal opinion the Vette is a cheaply made super car.(example # 1 interior plastic trim very cheap looking and outdated) (#2 the shifting in the car is not very precise) I mean look at the shifter its very tall and awkward.(#3 no HID lights) #4 steering at high speed is unstable very twichy at speeds over 130) These are just some of my opinions. I can say this because I have had both cars. I love the Evo 200 times better than the vette.. But don't get me wrong the evo is much slower than my 2002 Zo6. I ran a 12.6 at 115 in the vette stock. Don't expect better than a 13.5 in the evo stock. Ummmmmm I can go on alot more another example Room in both cars no room in the Vette I wanted to go to Orlando in the vette and all of my girls stuff and mine would not fit. and 1 more thing Insurance ****** wow it sucked was very high for me and I'm 30. I'm not trying to flame the Vette as its in a totally different class than the evo. Just giving my personal opinion. As for the new C6 I have yet to drive one but I hope the improvements in the new Vette are substancial..
Just trying to help you out
Derek
Evo VS VETTE
OH I forgot 1 more important thing.. I don't know what you spent for your Zo6 but I payed 52,000. Thats a hell of alot of beans. And you can get an Evo or Subi for under 35,000.
Just my cents

Keep your Z06, it's a faster car in all respects. The car can hang with 996 Turbos...
UNLESS, you just want something different, then go for the Evo or STi. As far as a performance view, you already got it. The Evo/STi will just get you a different type or performance. It's just your preference.
Stock for stock, Z06>>>>Evo (all drivers equal).
Oh yeah, I believe full boost hits @ 3000 rpms and not 3700 whoever said that. Correct me if I am wrong.

I believe full boost hits at 3500.
One other thing to consider with the EVO is that the car has a very "solid" feel due to the way the handling/suspension is tuned. This leads to less body movement, resulting in less of that "edge of your seat" feel. Combine that with all wheel drive and you get a sure-footed feel that makes the car almost feel tame. There are a lot of things you won't notice unless you have another car next to you.
The best thrill you'll get out of the car is in first gear when the turbo first kicks in. After that it's pretty much smooth sailing. If you want a car that feels or sounds fast, then the EVO may not be for you.
