Lightbulb IS it me or is it slow?

Is it me or is it slow is the question????
I drove the evolution for the second time today and it felt like a dawg. It never went anywhere. I drive a 2002 corvette zo6 381rwhp. Contemplating whether to get rid of it and get an evolution or sti. It seems all i need to do is heads cam and be killing any evolution that roles up on be on the highway and wil nitto DR from a dig i will be running mid 10's. Not sure what to do. WHats everyone else opinion. Like the outside of the evolution but the performance isnt there. PLEASE HELP. Also anyone know of any new cars comming out from nissan in the next two years that will be turbo, or dramatic improvements in the volution by 2006.
Anoyne feel the evolution was underpowered or am i just spoiled with the corvette.

I hope you drove an 05. The 03-04 has slower spool thus the rpm rise gradually until after 3700rpms. It's also the nature of the car. My previous evo felt slow and ran 13.5's. After exhaust and piggyback it felt less lag but not fast and was able to turn 12.7's. So go figure. The car feels slow i guess

I hope you know the Evo is inspired by rally car, built for handling. If you just want straight line acceleration, just buy yourself a hayabusa.

Going to drive an sti tomorrow i think. My friends tell me out the box it is quicker. But evolution have alot more potential. But mitsbushi's warranty is so strict. I could but a sti and have BOV, turbo back exhaust, front mount, SAFC, and some other things, bring it in under warranty and they would fix stuff. I know cause my friend did it already.

briansz06: I know what you mean. I am coming from a 450+whp Camaro SS (Got into too much trouble, insurance, don't ask). I've never driven the Evo, so I can't comment. I can tell you though, the Evo isn't made for straight line acceleration. Sure, it can be launched 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, but do that a few dozen times and you are looking at a new clutch.

it SUCKS to say this, but, you get used to accelerating slower. I think I'd probably be scared of my old SS now that I am adjusted to this tame OZ.

If you get the Evo, it will definitely put a smile on your face though. Sure it's slower than a Z06 in a straight line, but overall it's a better performance vehicle IMO.

so get an EVO and show him what's up!

in response to your original post, i believe you're spoiled with your 360rwhp. that's like driving an M3 and complaining how the 330ci isn't fast enough... or even 325i in that matter. the EVO's feels is like no other... acceleration, turning, and all.

i guess the same could be said about a lotta cars, but more specifically, the STI. so drive both again, a couple times if possible, then make your decision.

I can see where you're coming from.

After driving a ZO6, almost any car will feel slow to you unless it's a viper or lamborghini. That's reality. Your going from a mid 12 second beast to a mid 13 second four dour, with a little turbo lag before 3000 rpms. I think after you test drive an STI you'll probably feel the same. I heard that even if step on the gas pedal slightly on a regular corvette the wheel start to peel. The STI and Evo are all wheel drive rally cars built for the track and rally racing. They're in a completely different category than American Muscle cars. The straighforward thrust of ZO6 will never feel close to a STOCK Evo or STI. On the other side, the fun factor of flinging the Evo and STI around the apexes of a track is different. Good luck with your decision. It all depends on what your looking for:Going fast in a straight line or Going fast in and out of corners, braking sooner, superb handling, all-wheel drive, room for 5 passengers, better gas mileage.

I know i am spoiled. Just want WANT an import again. I saw a picture of a red one on here with a black stripe down the middle of the hood and front bumper. Looked sick. There was lots of other things done but it looked crazy. I just do not want to regret selling it like i did with my S4. If you have seen the guy who has the black S4 with carbon fiber hood and trunk on here, all hooked up, I had a yellow one same exact thing, and miss it more that anything. Had 25K invested and worth every penny. Contemplating to keep vette and do HRE's, H/C from cartek, tigershark front end, and CF hood with racing stripe. Or whether i should get the Evolution and do a bunch of SH**. BUt evolution is all wheel drive. More insights please?

hmmm... it seems to me you like the BEEF of your current vehicle... but then again, you did have a nice Audi... was that thing AWD? don't know what else to tell you other than to drive the AWD cars, see if you even want an AWD car with that type of suspension, and then decide on which one from there!

GAs is ony thing i get better. I get 28 mpg on the highway in 6th gear at 1500 rpms at 65 mph. City i average 17 on a bad day and 19 on a good day. Everyone thinks they eat gas but my friend needs a tank and a half with his o5 evolution to equal one tank for me.
