Question Dealer "giving away" an 2005 MR?!?

The saga continues...

Yestarday, I go back to the dealership to go over the 2003 EVO8 (pre-owned w/ 500 miles) which I negotiated down to $20,000! I take it out for a test drive and everything seems fine. We start discussing the purchase of the car and I tell them I don't need their financing...as I will pay cash. All of a sudden, the moods shifts. The sales person immediately leaves and brings in the dealership GM. He walk up and states, "...So you want to pay cash...how about I give you the MR instead for $31,000?" My initial reaction was that of shock, since I have read numerous forum posting of what the dealers are asking for the MR's. I told them I would sleep on it and let my friends a the forum give me their perspective.

So what do you think...it he is full of it...or, should I jump at the opportunity?

I smell BS! 2003 EVO 8 with 500 miles for 20,000 is also BS. Make sure you know what happen to the car. I smell a lemon!

If I had 20K and 31K in cash I don't think I would be buying an EVO Some of it is going to a downpayment of ..........

20,000 is a killer deal, if you have enough cash for the MR than I would say go for the MR, but not worth taking out a loan.

no man I can get u one here no problem for MSRP on a little under. He just know they were expecting to make up the cost difference on the 20K on your financing becasue a 03 with 500 miles for 20K is awesome!! I mean hell I got 18000 on mine and its going up for sale today for no less than 24000.

The dealer must be mistaken, he may be offering you a regular GSR for that price. And if he is really offering an MR for that price (which is unbelievable and under invoice at the same time) let me know, I buy it and you can have the regular 03 for $20K.

I thought dealers preferred financing over cash so they can earn even more money with interest.

I am positive it is an MR. I know for certain it was not another GSR because currently he only has the MR and the 2003 EVO8 on the lot. He basically told me the price was os that he can close out his inventory this month and help increase his allocation for MR's in 2005.

better make sure the clutch and the tranny is still intact. You know those dealers, will burn the hell out of the clutch before you buy.

I smell BS to. But part of me want to believe their offer.

I just emailed them and told them I am interested in the MR and the EVO8 and to put their offers in writing. When I receive it I will make my decision and come down and pick out which one I want. Let's see if they respond?!?
