Humming clutch??

I have a strange sound when I am slowly releasing the clutch especially at high speeds 50+. It is a mid tone humming sound. The performance of the clutch doesn't seem to be affected and everything seems to shift ok but it is a rather loud humming sound that always happens when I have to slowly release the clutch (ie engine braking) What could this be??

I have this same problem ... I mostly notice mine letting out the clutch with the rev. slightly lower than the gear and speed wants the motor at in 2nd gear. I think its a throw out bearing. I've adjusted my driving to miniminze this. I'd be curious to know what it 'really' is and if its a problem. Mine started about 2k miles, and I've got 10k on the EVO now.

I have that same noise but I think its the transmission making that noise when you downshift or release the clutch at a certain speed?

I'm just worried it is a sign that something bad is happening. It'e really weird because it only happens when I release the clutch slowly. It's like a steady hum. As soon as I'm done shifting though it just sounds normal.

I had it for awhile but it's not doing it as much. I hear it when releasing the clutch slowly like into second gear. I have the stock clutch and 24K miles.\
I say it's pretty normal for Evo's.

it's fairely normal. MOst of the time, it's your intake making this noise. But it could be the sign that your clutch needs replacing.
