Red face broken front seat.....

I was reaching in my back pocket to get my wallet out, I leaned back on my seat andn heard a loud cracking noise. Found ou that I broke the plastic backing on the seat. So I went to the dealer yesterday to have them order me a new seat. I found out that they ordered only the back of the seat (from the but up to the head). Guess how much the damn thing costs? $1700.00 bucks. I'm so glad that it's covered under warranty. I didn't want to know how much the whole seat cost.

Will Mits. void a warranty for a cat back system? the mechanic said maybe not, but he wasn't sure.

why would they void your seat warranty because you have something completely unrelated to your seats?

If you don't have cat. they have the right to void your warranty. It's against federal law for the dealer to operate on cars without cat. also, it's illegal for you to not have a cat.

I bet you're fine. With my catback I've had my driver's door panel replaced and my rotors turned. No issues whatsoever.

nah, those infinitely adjustable racing seats are inheritanly weak. They'll break easily when you're leaning back side ways onto it.

glad you posted this, as i am about 6' 4" and about 320lbs. i have found myself in the same situation reaching for my wallet. i will be careful. i snapped a bolt on one of my older cars seat. but i fixed it myself, with $.12 from the hardware store. this seems a little more involved though.

^^ it's called being a man. 5 11 at 220 lbs, i bench 285.

but it's fairely weak those seats. See if the mitsu was good, they would of put CF backing instead of the cheap plastic backing.

CF or kevlar. that would of been something else together.

that same **** happened to my seats the same day I bought it. I am still trying to see if the dealership will cover this part or not. You cant really notice the crack but it sucks knowing it's there.

same **** happened to me...went to lean way back to grab my CD binder off the rear seat and the extreme side of the seatback plastic snapped. it wasnt a structural problem, just aesthetic. mitsu replaced it (it was a $1700.00 part) but broke the new cover installing it...they just recently installed the third cover and it seems to be better...they said i was the 3rd person in there with the same problem...and it was right when it started to get cold in new england.
