I like the GTO too and I drove the crap out of it this summer. Lots of grunt but hard to tame. It's very good in a straight line....just like any other "muscle" car. Nothing else should be expected out of it. Steering feel is not where it should be....and I can only imagine how it would be like in the wet or snow. Interior is much nicer than the Evo's though.

Thanks alot for the replies guys, I'm going to wait around till March or so before I make my decision, so who knows. The EVO has been a blast to drive, and the 4g63 is a fun motor to work on. This is my third car with that motor. I have never owned anything with a V-8, so I think it will be a fun experience. The creature comforts of the GTO far outweigh the ones of the EVO, but then on the other hand, the handling of the EVO far outweighs that of the GTO. Some people say the GTO looks like a Cavalier, but there are also alot of people that say an EVO looks like an Accord, so ya know....I personally think the EVO looks better than the GTO, but theres just alot of things i personally like better on the GTO, so Ill let you guys know what i decide, and thanks again for the replies.

Two completely different looks. I like the GTO way better then the Mustang which is too retro for my tastes.

The GTO with upgraded suspension will make this car handle much better. The Holden race car is top notch. This car has the potential for great handling and all out power.

Or, as mentioned before, you could pick up a used z06 with under 15k miles for 33 - 35K... Just a thought.

Ive had the same dilemma myself for awhile. Ive got several hundred miles behind the wheel of my buddies EVO and 2 miles in a dealer GTO. 2 miles is all I needed to figure out the 17" tired Holden will need alooooot of suspension/wheel/tire money to feel fun. (3,900 lb car) Paint is just as crappy as a STi/Evo. Its hard to get a wide wheel (18/9.5) in the back of one w/o relocating shock mounts and rolling fenders. Those big, long heavy doors on the goat are a pain in parking lots too.... Comfort, four doors like the EVO & LS-1 V8 power is what ya want??

400hp CTS-V is the only way to go....Give it one more year and the '04 will be $30-32k on a used lot. Depreciation on Caddys is a good thing now that we have a car to look forward too.

Used CTS-V's are already in the high $30's come with gold Brembos, 18" wheels, HID lights, LED tails, & E-Z/cheap mod potential. Nitrous alone puts one in the 11's!! bone azz stock CTS-V will rape a modded EVO or STi all day long. 12.7's @114 showroom stock. $10k into a CTSV motor (396 stroker, fast intake, headers) and you will destroy every factory car on the road with the AC blowing including AMG stuff and Vipers. Can you imagine chasing down a TNT Viper w/ freinds riding in the back? haha

I still love Evo's and the associated price/fun dynamic. My only other 'new' car choice would be above for these reasons & cause I dont see myself in Dime a Dozen 'Danny Disco' Vettes, Mustangs or Bimmers

Funny this came up. Last night I saw a 20yr old kid die in a GTO. Hit a pole doing about 80mph. Car folded in half. Dead on impact
