Full front shot of the US Evo 8!!
That's a very good question: where IS the front plate going to be mounted? Surely to God they won't make us put it in front of the FMIC. Don't a lot of states require a front license plate unless there is no place to put it, or it interferes with the operation of the car? I'm certainly not putting mine on, and I'll just use that excuse.
I took my front plates off my Prelude the fist day I got it in '99. I got one ticket for it so far, but I don't particularly care. It's worth the $70 or so to me every once in a while to keep the front plate off. It's just so much cleaner looking.
Steel wheels - the answer - geez!

I thought you guys on this board were knowledgeable
The steelies on the RS are cheap throw-ons that will be pitched as soon as the car is received by the buyer in order to prep it for racing purposes. They make it a "roller".
Goto the JDM Subaru site and you'll find the Impreza Type C comes with steelies, as well.
These bare bones race ready cars are not really meant to be bought by the public for road use. In the UK, some people have bought past EVO RS Sprints as road cars because they came with a lot of Ralliart parts and a confirmed 330 hp, all for a price not a lot more than a GSR. If you pay the $$, they'll throw alloy wheels on.
The other thing these versions lack are the Recaros (or equivalent), as those would be tossed out, too. They are delivered with the cheapest, base model seats.
Obviously, they don't have AC, radio, leather steering wheel, etc. I also think they delete all the airbags.
Hope that clears that issue up...

I'm kinda beside myself with this whole front-end business... Mitsubishi stated that because of the front bumper crash tests, they needed to reconfigure the intercooler into the side air dam.. Meaning that we might not have the wonderful FMI with the EVO VIII...? Anyways, I guess we can all pray that they've figured something out...
if you really want a FMIC you can always go get an aftermarket one and have it put in...or pick up an evo7 fmic its not that hard ...spending a bit more money...yeah...but if you plan on tuning the evo you might as well upgrade the IC as well...if it does come in a SMIC...
If you look at the technicians manual that is posted everywhere on this site, you'll see that Mitsubishi has already said we're getting a FMIC.
Now, with that out of the way, what is an SMIC? Scoop mount intercooler?

Ok, I'm gonna be stupid here for a minute. Thanks by the way for ansering my question about what SMIC means!
But side mount intercooler? Is it mounted on the side of the front bumper, or what? How does that get airflow? I don't understand....

)). TT Supras have two and they are mounted on the both sides. There was even a rumor that EVO will come here with the SMIC instead of the FMIC.
