Yes you reead it right.....I just got my APR front splitter from mrbubbler last week for the Drift Showoff show. Took me about 5 hours to install by myself, and that was with the holes already drilled in the splitter. Anyways, I finally got her on, but I was not felling to safe with some of the bolts I used to secure the hangers on the bumper. But I needed it it worked, for about a week. I noticed that one of the screws fell of the hanger, but the splitter was secure since it was being held by all the plastic screws at the bottom.......well like a dummy i left it that way and decided to start flying on the 405 at about 130 miles an hour.........next thing you know BOOM......I though I blew the engine, once I got of the Freeway I realized it was the splitter...it was literally pushed off by the wind and all ripped out of the hole on the front bumper, the other hanger was left just "Hanging" on the bumper........I tried looking for it the past 2 days, and it hsa disappeared on the FWY of death.
My point.....make sure that there a washeres behind the bolts that screw into the bumper and dont leave sh%* unattended like I did.......that cost me about 150. and that was a GREAT price.
coments and opinions welcome

Does the splitter replace the tiny little piece (lip) on the bottom of the bumper? Or does the splitter simply just bolt up to the bottom. I have been interested in this piece for a while and there are only a couple of pictures that I have seen of it installed. I'm guessing you got it used for $150, thats a good price and its too bad you lost it.
I've had the APR splitter on my car (except winters) for a year and a half. I don't have the "rods" on it at all. I did buy better hardware including large washers on both sides (under the splitter and between the mounting point and nut. The splitter attaches in place of the plastic under-tray and does NOT remove the factory lip at all.
I'm barely confident that those plastic clip thinks will hold the light weight factory under-tray. I'd never use them for the acutal splitter. I'm sure I've never "tested" mine at 130MPH but it has seen downforce and held up to speed and wind. I've heard others say they had the factory lip ripped off by the downforce on the splitter. I checked that attachment on my car and I honestly couldn't see a more reliable way to attach the lip with my hardware.
Mine's been fine so far...again WITHOUT the rods. Mine took about an hour to install, including pulling the million or so plastic clips necessary to get the under-tray off.

That is the proper way to install it. The holes are pre-drilled from the APR factory to match the existing under-tray mounting holes. I'm assuming you can move it back and drill your own holes but I'm not sure how it would align or look.
