RS=barely lighter, MR=heavier

The RS is like 18lbs lighter than the stock GSR (when you subtract the weight of the sunroof from the GSR)

Road Race weight the HID's in at around 17-18 lbs. Seems like thats all the weight you're really saving, plus whatever extra gas was in that car.

The MR weights MORE than the GSR, even when you account for the 60lbs of junk in the trunk.

Seems like the weight reduction was hyped up a bit by

Very interesting thanks for the heads up

I believe the true weight loss was from the lack of A/C on the 04 models. Which might weigh 80lbs

Not really.

It's about 88 lbs, between the RS and the MR. The major difference between the RS-MR and the GSR is the roof. giving it a lower center of gravity. All the other stuff is minor. The RS is sold to customize. Most people will replace the stock radio. And ABS doesn't help when trying to drift the car. You shouldn't be buying the car just beacuse of the weight. Its the overall picture.

1) the difference is 88lbs when comparing the RS without a sunroof to the gsr WITH a sunroof. The sunroof weighs 35 lbs. the CORRECT comparison is to a gsr without a sunroof, which is only 53 lbs heavier, 17 of those pounds are from the HID's. So, all the other stuff really only takes of 36lbs.

2) most people that track the car don't replace the stock radio really.

3) i dont think anyone bought the RS to drift. At least i should hope not. But for the track, the ABS actually helps. Ask some people with the RS how they like not having ABS at the track.

4) i think, the overall picture is that the MR seems like a pretty good value still b/c you get the 6-speed, the forged wheels, and the VG, while still retaining the HIDs

It's been proven that the five spped tranny is fasrter the the 6 speed. Much to do with the downshifting. If you buy an MR for the Track it does not make sense.

All the 05 RS have AC, 100 % of them

It was only optional on 04 models

Nope, A/C is standard in an RS. It was supposed to be an option but was never delivered that way.

It has AC.

It also does not have any sound deadening, trunk lining, power mirrors, windows.,
I believe it has an aluminum roof panel. Mitsu says it works out to be 150 lbs difference.

the rs doesn't even come with a radio i thought, and even though the hid's weigh 17lbs. how much does the non-hid's weigh, probably a good 8-10 or more?

No No NO

The difference between the MR and RS is 88lbs. The MR is the heaviest of all three models.
