yeh, this is not a cool feature, it's retarded and confuses you. lol

I like the auto lock when driving feature, which we don't have. We don't have the 2 minute auto lock feature, if you forget to lock your car altogether, and we surely don't have an alarm that works.

Crap, crap crap...

I had more features on my volvo and honda then this car. lol

If that's true, there *must* be a way to reprogram an '03 to do that.

Do your doors lock automatically when you start driving?
1. Get out of car.
2. Hit remote to lock car.
3. Car locks.
4. Put remote in pocket of your super-tight jeans and...
5. ...accidentally hit the 'Unlock' button.
6. Car is now unlocked.
7. If no door is opened in the next 30 seconds, doors automatically re-lock.

This feature is meant to save you from accidentally unlocking your car from a distance without realizing it. As far as I know, it is standard on all Evo's (except the RS', which have no remote locking) and cannot be turned on or off.

I have an '04 RalliArt and have this feature too. As soon as you manually unlock the doors, start the car, or open the door, they will NOT auto-lock again.

I hit the unlock on my remote twice to unlock all 4-doors, and it WILL auto-lock them 30sec. later if no door is opened. I like this feature. I do wish however the doors would auto-lock when you drive away.

This feature is on all Lancer, Ralli-art's, and Evo's made. I've had a 02, 03 OZ Rally and 04 Evo and all of them have locked the door if you don't get in with-in 30 secs. Also if you leave your lights on after the car is shut off and open the Driver door only the lights will go off. Suprizingly this is all in the manual along with how to make the lock button just lock the car and not beep but the lights will blink or turn off the lights and the horn so they don't go off when you hit the lock button.

guys, it's really simple.

doors do NOT auto lock.
If the doors are locked and you use the keyfob to unlock them you have "X" amount of time to open the door or else it will re-lock itself (my guess is in case you accidentally unlock them when you are walking away after parking)

lights turn themselves off.
if the lights are on and you turn the key off they will stay on for 3 minutes or until you open the drivers door.

this isn't rocket science guys.

Yeah, but don't open the door too quickly or you'll void the warranty!

Another cool featurette is the way the internal cabin, map, and trunk lights will shut off about twenty five minutes after the car is turned off. It prevents a slightly open door from leaving the cabin lights on and draining the battery. The only way to turn the lights back on is turn the ignition switch to "on".

Awesome!

I didn't know the EVOs had this feature.

This should be standard on all cars.

It's such a pain in the butt when you (or someone else) leaves the lights on accidentally and you have to get your car jump-started.

Alright, so this thing about our cars locking automatically is a myth. I know all the features outlined in the manual including the horn beep settings, and my car works exactly as stated in the manual. If that's the only thing that these cars do, someone should close this thread and give me my 5 minutes back!

My Montero also autolocks in 30 secs if the doors are not opened. Lock car, hit unlock, do not open doors and it will lock by itself. Guess all Mitsu cars have it.

If you think your Evo doesn't / can't do this:

RTFM!

(Unless you have an RS, because they don't / can't)
