Yeah, and you've had access to the VI and VII Evo's, and the STi, and the Lotus Elise.....I hate you.

Are we missing a few pages or what? This seems to be more
or less a press guide. It isn't quite all that "technical."

I've never called it a tech manual. The reason it was called that is due to it being found at a tech meeting.

Mitsubishi are being very clever I have not yet seen any concrete evidence the 8 will even be AWD it is not even listed on the standard feature list the dealer faxed me yesterday?
I think they are going to surprise us with something entirely new!

Yeah, on page 1 of this thread, one of the black-and-white scans of the tech's guide, it lists full-time All Wheel Drive.

That tech guide is not very reliable..all of the engineered components are the exact same pictures printed 2 years ago for a press release of the 7 I have that pdf file the interior pictures are of the 7 (with heavy photo shopping on ACD indicator)..zoom in on rev counter at the pdf file fireball posted it is also funny we have had no concrete specs on front diff... This is not a done deal!!!

I am not trying to play devils advocate the rear suspension picture on the tech manual posted has AYC fitted to it I have seen these systems in the flesh when I lived in England....The nurburgring posts show the new evo with a different gear shift with 'evolution' scripted behind it this is the true interior...also on a side note the evo will come with auto off headlights...I still think we should think outside the box..

Ok, dude, relax....and breath, and relax.....and breath.....better?

Ok, now you'll see that the whole brochure talks about the American market. Notice how it says, "Lancer Evolution" not "Lancer Evolution 8" like it would EVERYWHERE else in the world? And it's not a picture that we're getting this "all wheel drive" idea from. It's the spec sheet, which tells us, the AMERICAN consumers, that we'll have 271 hp, 273 torque, and the drivetrain is...are you ready for this?..... ALL WHEEL DRIVE!!! Do you think that they'd set up a seperate plant to produce a FF or FR car JUST for America? And don't say they're selling it to the British or Japanese that way as well, because that would be moronic.....

Now, I will give you credit that they didn't say what manner of differentials we're getting. That's why a lot of us, myself included, are hoping that Mitsubishi is saving it as a last minute, "Surprise! Aren't you happy!" sort of thing. On that, we'll have to wait. But I'm sure there's going to be some sort of LSD, since EVERYTHING has them anymore.

I can understand needing to have some new rumors, since we have so MUCH new info on the Evo, so I'm gonna help you out. "Hey, have you heard about the rotary engine they're putting in the new Maybach?" Discuss amongst yourselves.

Uhm, When Limey quoted me saying that the hood and trunk are EVO VII pics...that was posted wayy before the rest of this stuff came. I was only looking at the picture of the cover of the book. The pics on there are EVO VIIs. However, the rest of the pics inside the book reflect the closest thing we had from Fireball prior to this guide. Sooo, I wasn't saying that Mitsu was screwing with us, just a reaction to the cover. After seeing the inside, I'm am fully confident in the validity of this book.

I still am not clear what you are calling a spec sheet you still are hanging on to the apparent tech intro book... this is where those specs are listed ...no where else.. Mitsubishi have not confirmed anywhere AWD!! this tech book could be addressing future enhancements to the evo in the states that will be optional equipment or a model revision in the future. I am looking at my order confirm '2003 LANCER EVOLUTION 4DOOR (5 M/T)" I have also no comment on the U.K. or Jap specs as there release date is in March and June respectively I am sure they will have 4WD and all the goodies

I really doubt that mitsubishi would give us a different drivetrain than the overseas evos. Granted, we are supposedly not getting the same differentials, but I cannot imagine them dropping the one key feature that marks its competition with the Sti, and the key feature in its rallying heritage. The AYC, ACD and 6 speed are not hallmarks of the evo rally heritage. 4wd is.

I was not ruling out AWD... I would be the first to run to the dealer to get my green back!!! I mearly stated that this part of the tech release is a bit fuzzy and Mitsubishi have not confirmed to the retail public what the drivetrain will be.... I am eluding to another system altogether which will be in keeping with the evolution evolving, think about it 'controlled electronic differential'mentioned just 3 years ago would have been a large pill to swallow I think this is why dash pictures and interior pictures are closely guarded by Mitsu marketing guru's

Thank you GPTourer! I'm going to post this one pic. It's from the tech book on the US SPEC Evo. After this, I'll have done all I can.

Look at where it says drivetrain. Please tell me what that says.....yes, that's right, AWD. Now unless you think Mitsubishi means "Active Wheel Drive" or "Africa Was Dope!", then you'll see that it means, in writing, that we're getting "All Wheel Drive".
