Yeah, the truth always seems to work best right? I actually ran the idea by her after work today, followed by "I was a good boy this year" and "I know Santa wants to get something nice for me." She's still flippin about the crank windows (women) but based on my past experience I think she'll warm up
By the way Steiner, that SRT-4's an awesome car, took one for a test drive before I got my evo and it was high on the list. I guess you already have some experience with the crank windows then right?

Tell your wife you love her and you are doing it for her since she looks so hot in ___ (insert color of your new car). If that doesn't work find her a boyfriend and send them both to Maui while you are taking delivery of your new car. If your wife isn't interested in that idea just sell your current Evo and buy her what she would really rather have. In a couple of months after you have played on her sympathys for a while, hook up with the Evo you want on the used car market. You will save a bundle on your divorce.

total cost = $1730 not enough to convince her.

BTW...if she says "she's thinking about it" then you're in like flyn dude! My wife told me "I'm processing the idea" but I know what that really means is hopefully in 2 weeks it will be something else that I want. The other sex thinks we'll forget about a new car like we forget about a new TV, DVD player, or other things that when you see a commercial you proclaim..."I'm gonna get one of those"...and then you forget about it a few minutes later. They don't understand that when it comes to the car we want we'll never give up.

I'm thinking she'll come around on it, especially with a little persistence on my part. I'm going to be that nagging itch that won't go away for awhile I guess. I already used the "new clutch, new tires and less mileage" arguement, which is in truth quite a good one.
I did talk to a sales guy yesterday, what's the deal with these cars, do they all come with that "sport package?" I'm not sure I want stock gauges, short shifter and "sport pedals."
Is that a dealer installed option or standard with the car. Time to search I guess.

tell her the RS is prettier...and i'm not kidding. my wife went with me to a meet and pointed out the RS because of the black door handles and mirrors. and she liked the no-wing look.
so i guess she thinks the RS is better looking, though i disagree - all well, in the end it's my car

To answer my own above question, and to clarify now that I know more, it's an aluminum shift knob, the standard 3-gauge pack, and "sport pedals" Looks like '05 RS standard features. Whoopdee frickin doo, why tamper with perfection?
She's now ranting about the lack of power locks! Maybe I can convince her it will help me do my gentlemanly duty and personally unlock and open her door for her everytime.

MAn, im in a similar boat, lol. I told my lady that I will get an amazing deal on an MR that I just could not let pass by. Remember this: use the force!!!! The same force that pursuaded her into actually being your woman!!! We men can use our persuasive ways to coax almost anything to get it to work our way. Lots of luck and always remember that you convinced her once, you can do it again! Oh, by the way, you must be at your best behavior for the next few weeks.

I'd say if she is not helping you with evo payments and expenses, put your foot down, be a man, and kindly tell her "I will spend my hard earned money the way I choose." I have had to do this a couple of times, but after I established who is wearing the pants, life is easy.
If you have been wearing the dress for awhile now and she is used to, this technique may lead to problems. One must get it right from the beginning.

Man this thread reads like a Dr. Phil book! Great stuff guys, yeah I'll get what I want, just have to be persistent I think that's the main thing. Someone said above, as soon as she realizes that this isn't one of those fleeting impulse ideas she'll lighten up. And if all else fails, the "it's my car, I'll buy what I damn well please" works in the end, but let's not make this ugly if we don't have too
I have already been working the strategy of letting her do lots of nice shopping and encouraging her to buy things for herself to justify my own expenditures.
This one should be a sticky!
And superz, I have been workin out -
