I can personally vouch for how effective it is -- which matches all reputable tests done.
You are right. Active laser jammers do work and work quite well if you buy the more expensive models like the beltronics, escort or blinder. I was confusing them with the passive ones that have never worked, radar ron was actually offering a 5k reward for a passive laser jammer that actually worked. As far as laser jammers being illegal, they are illegal along with radar detectors in Minnesota, Utah, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Virginia and California and you can be arrested for it. As far as radar jammers go they are illegal in all 50 states and if you get caught with one it is a federal felony offence and not a state offence and you will get in big trouble. The reason being that laser jammers are regulated by the FDA (food and drug administration) while radar detectors and jammers are regulated by the FCC (federal communications commission) hence the federal charge for being in posession of a radar jammer.

Since a cop has to be stationary to use Laser, a rear jammer is useless unless you are speeding down the highway in reverse. Almost all Radar detectors are Beltronics. They bought Cincinati Microwave years ago and still use the Passport and Escort names. They even build K40's radar receivers. If you can get Geico insurance, your state has Laser. They funded the development and give them to local authorities and subsidize the purchases so they aren't more expensive than Radar, though they are harder to use.

Is this geico's way to raise customer's rates by helping police with speeding tickets?
