Well the niave way to solve the question would be to assume that your power would be equal to the amount of oxygen you're taking in. 20 lbs of boost is 34.5lbs of absolute pressure at sea level, which in turn translates to a little over 270bhp. Assuming the you get a similiar taper, although you certainly don't, your new intake should be around 25.5lbs. That's a loss of 26%. Corresponding bhp loss: 70. New power estimate:200bhp.

I dunno, maybe that doesn't work, but I think it should.

blargh,

1PSI= 10HP to the flywheel.
8PSI= 80 to the flywheel
EVO VIII w/ 11PSI= 191HP to the flywheel
160-170 AWHP

Ummmm, are all these AWHP nembers referring to a chassis dyno? I read all the posts and had to ask.

On the Mustang dyno I use, Stock EVO's post 200whp at stock levels of boost. So, 11psi on a mustang dyno would prolly post 120-130awhp.

LOL Thats actually about right.. 200hp and a heavy Evo means you'll get your *** handed to you by many otherwise lower HP but lighter cars..

I recall blowing one of my vacuum lines off my BOV and the car just wouldn't run boost over 10psi and the car felt like my old Neon.. I just remember this because it happened when trying to race a Cutlass supreme with a V8 and could barely stay ahead and couldn't figure out what the heck just happened until I noticed my boost gauge stopped working.. When I stopped the car wouldn't idle.. LOL

My numbers were to the crank, not the wheels. Either way, 26% loss. Do the math for whatever dyno you've benchmarked.

OK, I looked at my old dyno plots and found something that may be helpful.

Stock EVO's on this Mustang dyno put down approx 200whp.
We all know the EVO is rated 271hp at the crank.

With my mods and my EVC V set at 22psi, I put down 240whp and 250ft/lb
The good run w/ full boost and mods netted say 312 crank hp @22psi

But, we had a bum run where we switched maps on the EVC V to the low boost setting (17psi) and put down 203whp and 201ft/lb.

So, crank hp on the bum run w/ partial boost and mods is 25-30% higher than whp so lets say 260hp at the crank @17psi

This leads to the 11psi question.
22psi = 312 crank hp with my mods.
17psi = 260 crank hp with my mods.
19psi = 271 crank hp (stock factory rating)
11psi = 156 crank hp (stock, no mods)

All this math is based on general rounding of ratios to simplifyand I took the higher numbers (ie. 30% drivetrain reduction), but you get the idea.

Hope I helped.
