SORRY for the hassle. If it is a big chain, I would suggest go to corporate with pics and any other detail you have even the manager not admitting that they were wrong. if it is a small mom and pops, go to Judge Judy ( small claims ) and dispute it there. If the stock rims cost say 3000 from the dealership, 3k would buy a lot of nicer rims and suspension. Good luck. Know when I get my tires done, I have going to have my digital pictures with the service writer in it to show proof of before and after if I find any damage. good luck

Good mounting places are hard to find. To cut down on them messin up my wheels i usually just bring in the wheels and tires. I usually find cheaper places online. A good example of why i do this happened to me yesterday. For the first time in a while i brought my car into the local Firestone, i have tuner lugs with a key you need to use to torque them. The installer broke the key on the 18th lug, they actually sent me on the road with no discount AND missing one lug on one rim. Freakin jackass even gave my car a couple revs while pulling it in and out. I'm going to complain to firestone HQ.

i would love for this to be a corporate chain so i could have someone higher up to complain to...but this is shop is locally owned...reason i brought it there is a friend of mine is the secretary there...and i knew she would watch over my car and make sure they didnt go joy riding or anything of that sort...unfortunately i would rather be dealing with that right now that 4 ruined wheels...

tomorrow she will be talking to the other owner for me as will i...if nothing comes of that they will be hearing from a lawyer promptly...i have already received the quote from my local mits dealer on the price of new wheels...it wont be pretty for them if they have to replace them

Go to a place that mounts and balances tires for Ferraris and Porsches. That's what I did. No scratches anywhere on my wheels. Paid a little more though.

My local Mitsubishi shop figured out that they didn't have the correct attachment before banging anything up and sent me to a place with the correct attachment. This dealership is actually the cheapest local place to get the tires swaped out (believe it or not) and they are going to get the correct part now.

At least they did the right thing instead of f'ing up the wheels and claiming I curbed them!

quick update:

i went back by the place and showed the other manager...he said the part i was talking about where the entire paint was chipped off, it was just the clearcoat that chipped...i was like uhh no you can see the bare metal...he said, well if the paint on the wheels is that thin then its going to come off anyways...im like ummmm no, paint isnt thick...hes like, well bring it by another time and i will buff the scuff marks up and take the car down to my bodyshop and have them put a new clearcoat on that one wheel...but i dont want him to take my car to that shop b/c they do ****ty work...

so i just agree b/c it was cold out and i didnt want to listen to his BS...i agree knowing that when i get back to my office i am going to call my insurance company and a lawyer...i planned on getting a REAL quote to fix the wheels and having my lawyer call them with quote in hand...

first place i call is my own insurance company...explain the situation and turns out my comprehensive coverage will cover the cost of the wheels for a $100 deductable...im like sweet, but what will that do to my rates?? she is like it shouldnt effect them b/c the claim is not your fault...we will just go after their insurance company for compensation...so im like awesome i get my wheels replaced and that shop gets screwed in the a-hole...

so tomorrow hopefully i will hear some good news from my insurance company...and im going to try to get that shop to pay my $100 deductable...i doubt they will agree but we will see....either way they are going to have to file a claim with their company which will effect their rates since it was their fault...unless they just want to pay $3000 out of pocket for my new wheels...

but things are looking better now...hopefully this will all be worked out

Yeah, please keep us updated. I would strong arm them into paying the deductable, and if they wont budge just have your lawyer give them a ring. Good luck!

Well bad news...

I cant file a claim with my insurance company...aparently my comprehensive won't cover the damages, and since I know who damaged the wheels my vandalism coverage wont cover it either. However, my insurance company is still going to help me out with this. They told me to try to get the Tire company's insurance provider and policy number. If they denied me the info, I can file a police report and the police dept will get the information for me. This sucks big time, I thought i was going to get through this easily with my insurance company...guess it's going to get ugly if they dont comply with fixing my wheels.

well i called the place back today and gave the guy one last chance to make it right without getting police/insurance involved...he was a complete *** and told me if I wanted to get my lawyer involved to have my lawyer call him...he told me he didnt want to talk to me anymore...

here are the pics of the "clearcoat damage" its obvious the entire clearcoat, paint, and primer has been removed in some places...and the clearcoat and paint has been scratched through to the primer

Wow, that sucks. I just got new tires mounted, but my wheels are full of brake dust. I hope my shop didnt tear the wheels up. I have had problems with a shop damaging my car before (not my evo) and its only headaches. Good luck with getting those fixed.

**UPDATE**

I got a call from my insurance company today. They issued me a check for the appraisal value on the wheels. The estimate value was $2500.00!!!!

Nice!! I guess they contacted Mits and got a quote for a set of new wheels. I guess thats one good thing about dealer pricing!!

Anyways, I suppose the shop will learn a valuable lesson when they see how much their insurance premiums will increase. They should have made everything right with the customer istead of trying to screw around with me and then deny they even did the damage. The could have gotten my wheels fixed for much cheaper than what their insurance will increase per 6 months most likely (my insurance will not increase)...

For all you guys with shops or that will run a shop someday...dont forget to always keep your customers happy!! It pays in the long run.
