You can take the mounting brackets right off of the stock HU. If you don't feel like splicing wires, some wiring harnesses would be keen. A philips head screwdriver would help, too.

Go to Best Buy and tell they you need a radio wiring harness for your car...follow the directions that came with your head unit to find out what wires go together...plug and play.

that's it, best buy?

alright, i'll go tomorrow.

You could use the stock headunit mount?

that means, I probably only need that harness.

That's all you should need, Mitsu makes it really easy to put different headunits in.

once you get the panel off, you'll see that it's really really easy. pull off the AC control dials, unscrew the two screws, pull off the panel, unscrew the 4 screws holding in the stock radio, unscrew the mounting brackets on the sides of the radio, screw on the mounting brackets onto new radio, use the wiring harnesses, ground it, screw everything into place.

the radio i put in this car was my first experience installing anything to do with a radio/electronics/stereo in a car and i did it in under 30 minutes.

I think I got my harness at CircuitCity. They had a mitsu to universal and a universal to alpine. Then just plug it in.

Where did you guys ground your HU's? I grounded mine to the mounting screws but I think I can do better. Is there a good spot on the firewall?

i grounded mine on the mounting screws, there's a better place by the firewall, but i didn't have the tools to undo the screws there.
