is mivec like v-tec in-that you can swap heads to get it? and i understand the viii does not have it, right? i'd love to add a mivec head to my engine, but i don't know if that's possible (haven't searched yet though either).

Ok, but I'm gonna have to question how accurate the information you are spreading is? Are you sure the info you are spreading isn't really for the EVO X and not the EVO IX. The EVO X is suppose to be all new, and a lot of the info you are putting out seems like it will fit more with the all new EVO X, then the touched up EVO IX. Come on now, we are talking about the replacement of the 4G63, with the MIVEC 4G69 something that is all new to the EVO platform. Your talking about a brand new model designation called GT, which is new to me (It's always been RS, GSR, and/or MR, where the heck did GT come from?). All this sounds great, but way to soon for a model that is suppose to be released in 6-8 months, especially when all these new features would fit more appropriately with the all new EVO X. It is my belief and from the info I have found that, the EVO IX (which is scheduled for release in approx. 6-8 months) will have subtle exterior styling changes(that most of us have already seen), have electronic active center differential, lightweight aluminum roof (as is on the MR now), continue to use the 4G63, use the new magnesium titanium turbo, make HP output similiar to the FQ300 in the UK, and the 6-Speed will become standard on the GSR models. This will be the last EVO on the current platform, with the EVO X being all new, in fact I've heard some wild rumors, and I'm sorry the information by the author in this thread seems like it will be part of the EVO X and not the EVO IX.

Isn't MIVEC basically Mitsu's version of variable electronic valve timing? I have always been told that this is not needed with turbocharged engines.

it's not needed, but it's always good to have it. lol

it probably works differently then the lancer MIVEC, its just there to deliever quicker torque at lower rpm. I'm hoping they're making it infinitely variable, since the compression ratio should be a lot more down then the N/A version car, since the turbo.

i know that mivec is like vtec in how it works.

i want to know if it's like vtec in-that with vtec you can swap your non-vtec head with a v-tec one and have vtec. can you swap a non-mivec head with a mivec one and have mivec - or are there any problems doing that, like the heads not lining up physically or something?

That's a good question. I wonder that myself. Not only that, but is the EVO9 MIVEC all mechanical, or is there and ECU inputs to this?

Someone could inform me where are the EVO's 9 tech specifications?

I always complained about the lack of a mivec system in my EVO... good news.
