pretty much all evos have this. the trans/gearbox/clutch and basicly the whole drive train knocks, twitches, creaks, grinds. its like a fine wine, it takes a while to reach perfection haha.

I just ordered a Lancershop short shifter package that comes with the short shifter, 2pc underhood bushings, and the 8pc shifter bushings. This is supossed to help out the shifting dramatically. I'll let you know how it goes.

i agree evil8.....i got my 05 just last month....drove it off the lot and had a 'little' difficulty gettin' it in 4th....... but now...no problems....all gears go in with just a click....it gets better with age....still whines around 2500-3100 rpm...but i believe that's normal...not stressin about that......heh heh

my buddy's 03 had a grind in 5th....and i hear some 03/04's have grinding tranny issues...some are fixable some are not by MMC... his issue went away...no more grinding...he's enjoying every bit of the car.....

maybe it depends on how you break it in..and how you drive it.......take it easy on the shifts....i usually shift at about 3300 rpm...and try to stay below 5k before 1000 on the odometer...

my 05 is a bit stiffer and solid than an 03....maybe due to extra hardware on for lsd and acd....not sure...

Many people have had luck changing out the tranny fluid with syncroshift to smoothen it out.
