Reverse lamp not working

My rev lamps not working. The plug is plugged into the tranny but still doesn't light up. What could it be. Any other plugs I failed to check. Everything works except that.

no its not. I took it out and put it back in ATLEAST 10x in the past month. Nothing. Wont light up. I even stuck a Q tip in the plug to clean it, still nothing.

you are going to have to use a multimeter, or light probe tester to check you light @ diff points along the way. i would start w/ bulbs, then go to plug, then go to taillight connecter etc. assuming that both lights are not working, then it probably be a problem before the split for the 2 lights. i.e. fuse, tranny harness etc. sometimes the easiest thing will be the prob. so make sure you check fuses.

Ya using a DVOM will be your best bet. I would do a Ohm test on the switch to see if the circuit is stuck on open when the tranny is placed in reverse. If the switch is good you would see 0.1 in resistence from the terminals on the switch. If bad it would be some astronomical number.

I have the exact same problem. Did you find a solution? Which fuse is for the reverse lights?

I had the same problem in my galant and changing the sensor that seemed ok for a new one resolved the problem.Best to troubleshoot with a meter though first.
