Evo VIII Plastic Front Under Panel?
Does anyone make a replacement under panel for the stock Evo bumper? I'm so tired of messing with those cheap plastic fasteners and floppy panels. If you've replaced your FMIC then you have to cut-out a portion of the front piece and you loose a couple of mounting points. As you know this leaves a rather loose fitting panel.
What has everyone done to remedy this situation? I'm thinking of having a local fabricator make an all new piece out of aluminum. It would be complete with attached nuts (backside) to fascilitate removal and louvers to extract air.

I just got back from a fab shop and they are going to make a panel from 1/8" aluminum with 1/4" thick tapped plates on the back of it. The remaining mounting points can be bolted or screwed to the front cradle. I'll take some pics when it's complete. If others like it, I can have it fabricated for you as I made a template prior to fabrication.

It can. I discussed this with the fab shop and, like everything else, it will add to the cost. The first pass on this will be simple, light and easy to install and take off. As you know, there are at least three separate plastic panels that require those stupid little plastic fasteners for attachment. The goal is to simplify removal by using allen head cap screws and to provide a stiff plate panel that is not hanging down into the wind.
Directional wind vanes for brake cooling can be added once all the fittment issues are resolved.

Aluminum Underpanel
I would be very interested in something like this with brake air cooling guides.
I wonder why no vendor has made one yet.
Keep me posted as well on this piece.

Maybe I started something big here! Obviously there will have to be at least two designs. One with a cut out for a larger FMIC and one that fits the stock intercooler. I had that in mind when I developed the initial design so this certainly will not be a problem. Simplifying the attachment points is the biggest hurdle. More to come.
