Well, consider the Evo very forgiving. If people were driving RWD cars, it certainly would be worse.

 

got it spun around on a deserted windy road up in the mountains near my house. no traffic, and i had to check my pants but didnt even come close to losing it into the ditch.

 

hmm I will take youre guys advice and not risk anyone elses life, I did not try to pitch it in traffic I just floored it in first and it broke free on me. It was the first time it had rained so it was pretty slick, I just was curious how others drove on the street.

 

I drive very responsibly on the street, but have ran off the road on the track 3 times this year. Twice was with an instructor in the car, telling me to go faster, go faster, go faster...

 

today i was driving up a twistie road, it was about 20 degrees out no snow though, went around a turn my *** end wiggled out to the right, i just kept my foot on the gas and counter steered it and it just whipped back in place, gotta say huge rush and scare at the same time... if you wanan push yoru car do an autox that will give you a great feeling or an open lap day or sp,etjomg

 

A stock EVO seems to let go nice and smooth, but when it regrips, it grips like a ****.

Enjoy the ride, but be careful, its usually the regrip that's gonna throw you off guard

in the first week of owning the damn thing i thought I was all badass and decided to launch out of the drive way of the DMV in bellflower and did a complete 180, facing traffic (no one was coming but the people at the red light where certainly watching) needless to say i 4 point turned that biotch and drove like a mad man trying to get home to save my ego

 

that same exact thing happened to me a few months ago (the first time my evo had seen rain), only my damage was $4,200

 

today it was raining so we got sent home (work in constuction) so i took one of the estimators for a ride lol. good times, spun a 180 and drifted all over the place.(this was all done in an abandon industral park). if you realy want to have a good time find a big parking lot while its raining thats empty. go all the way to one end, turn and punch it in first. as soon as the car breaks loose ease off the throtle and shift to second. turn into the drift and just keep the rpm around 3,500 to 4,500 and enjoy. i was able to drift the car 90 degrees for at least 150 yards doing that. crazest feeling ever looking out the pasenger side window and steering with hte throtle

 

I have never come close to losing the car in the mountains, probably because I stay around 85%.
But, in the city, I have had a few pucker moments in the rain, and when I still had the Advans. I had one moment when I lost it making a left turn with a coworker, and ran up onto the curve. It was smoothed out so it did not hurt the car, just my ego.
Then I it got loose in the rain again when I was trying to make a yellow light. That was scarey, I almost hit another car. That would have been a law suit.
Since then, I have gone to all-season tires, which still work well in the mountains, and I slowed down on the surface streets in town.

 

real close... curbs are the enemy...stay away from them. The stock tires (as everybody knows) suck in wet conditions. Careful out there noobs.

 

I'll admit it...i'm in NY, so we got a snow storm like 2 nights ago. I left at about 12:15 am with my evo, went and got my buddy and picked up some orange pylon cones at his restaurant...met up with my other friend in his a4 quattro...drift session til 4 am. First we went to the mall to do some relatively high speed sideways stuff but then we went to an empty bowling alley parking lot and set up the cones to drift around. It's good practice...sometimes I feel like a dick, but it's late at night, we see no one but snow plows, not even cops. and it's so fun, u eventually forget ur even sliding. It just becomes second nature to rotate out onto the road and hit 2nd while still sliding sideways, then it just straightens out and off you go. Never near other cars or people though, and usually not too close to anything solid, although I am known to do donuts around streetlamps from time to time ...but hey I get it all out, so i have no desire to do it on public streets.

 

Having fun in a empty parking lot sounds like fun. But testing the limits of a car on the street is not that smart. Take it to the track.

 

Far to many n00bs tend to overcorrect their countersteer thinking its rwd and let go of the gas .. Thats when the grip regains its traction and its usually violently .. They often then lose control then ... Sometimes I think it was better if they had bought RWD cars instead ...

Driven properly on the streets, it is nearly impossible to lose it in the evo. Now start acting like you're a pro driver without some experience and start to lift mid corner will guarantee you a spot in the ditch.
