how close have you come to losing it?

I have only had my evo for a few weeks and I feel the need to keep pushing it as far as I can. I have had to check my self a couple of time by getting on it too hard in a turn a getting it sideways. Today it rained and I got on it pulling out of the mall and got sideways in traffic, I was kinda afraid but at the same time I get a great rush out of it. So how close have you guys came to crashing?

Nick

about 4 weeks after getting the car i was making a left turn on the highway from the turn lane. Didn't see the gravel in the turn lane and the bad slid out a little but was easy to pull back together. Scared me but got a good rush from it.

BE careful.

I just got mine back from the shop.($7,000 damage) They had to replace the entire right side suspension/both right rims. I too was out playing in the rain. (first time car had seen rain) I was out goofing around and hit a curb perfectly! Go to an open parking lot. There you can really get a feeling of how far you can push your car in the rain/ or dry. I am sickened by the way this car grips! I went there today and got crazy! how do i get the footage from my camera to here? Anyway becareful out there you guys! Shiny side UP!

I wish I had the guts to do it, it's just too new to ruin.

I've completely spun 180 degrees on dry pavement! at the tracks of course, while testing its limits. The evo's pretty hard to lose control of, especially with its neutral handling. Gotta learn the limits of the car before pushing it out on the streets.

Sounds like you've gone past your limit. Back off a little and then call it your "driving on public streets" limit. Don't let your experiments affect other people who don't expect it. Seriously -- save that crap for the empty parking lots and track...

My evo is pretty easy to get sideways...very tail happy especially on very cold tires, or in the wet. I go it sideways going 60-65 in a fast left/right S turn. I had to let off the throttle and the car quickly straightened out. The slides are not that predictable though and you have no idea how far you're gonna slide...so drive carefullly....but I won't promise that I will.

I've gotten the car sideways on a road that is not ment for getting sideways (Hyw. 84 in Livermore CA) and if I wasnt quick thinking and in a EVO I wouldn't be here right now. I just took a down hill turn turn too fast and slid...there wasn't any tire screech just sliding. I wasn't out of controll just unintentionaly drifting. I had to correct very quickly because 2 car lengths from me was a car coming in the other direction (2 lane road)...That a rush fo show.

Now we all push the car because we believe in the EVO and we believe in our driving abilitys, but dont ever under-estimate the OH SH*T factor in life.

I don't even have an Evo and I've pushed my car way too far. I have a Lancer Ls and I don't even want to know what I'd be like with an Evo. One day, I was taking some turns pretty hard and kept pushing my car harder and harder. Well, eventually I ended up going 60+ around a pretty sharp tunr and my car started sliding. I overcorrected and almost hit a car that was in the lane next to me going the opposite direction. I had lost complete control of my car and came within a foot of hitting the car in the other lane. Anyway, I overcorrected again and spun out completely. My car ended up going right inbetween two telephone poles and soem road signs. Luckily, I made it out without even a scratch on my car. But I did come extremely close to crashing it. My first thought was "oh ****". Second, "I can't do that ever again on the road". Third "Damn, that was sooo much fun". It's that 3rd thought that scares the living **** out of me. It is fun to whip around, but you have to keep it in perspective and realize that it's not worth the risk of damaging your car or possibly hurting yourself or others. Save that **** for an empty parking lot. I leanred my lesson the hard way and hope that maybe you can control yourself (unlike myself) and maybe learn from my mistake. Have fun with your car whipping around, but make sure to keep it safe and definitely don't do it on a public road.

The car should not be getting sideways on the streets. Good way to kill people or yourself. Save that for the track......

I agree, but most people (such as myself) don't learn their lesson until after they almost kill themselves or someone else.

It's cool and all but if you don't know what your doing your F!@# ! The Evo can and only if you kmow how to! Correct itself but you need the experence to do it!
