Porsche 997 S Vs. Stock EVO
GinuwineEvo8,
$110000 sounds excesive to me. You can get a new GT3 380 hp for $99000 and needs nothing because it comes with better suspension and better engine.
Your father's friend probably installed a lot of silly accesories and upgrades to account for the $25000 price difference .

For the record, the 997S usually can be had anywhere from 85,000 to 95,000 depending on options.
A stock Evo isn't anywhere near the 997S - I should know; I traded my 326 WHP Evo in for one.

Porsche will win, unless that evo's got a bigger turbo to go with that Intercooler and suspension setup.
I wanna see what that yellow evo's got under the hood.

The reason they launch so well is that the weight of the engine is behind the rear wheels and that creates great off the line traction.
Many Porsches are underrated. The 996 GT3 (380hp) can put down 350 rwhp on a dyno. The new 997S is pretty quick too, and off the line traction isn't too bad on rear-engine car with fat tires.
A 997 S is a nice car, and without going nuts on expensive options (a Porsche affliction), can be had for $87,500 plus tax and license. That's about $96,000 OTD in Calif. You can buy a GSR, an RS, AND an MR for that money, so I hope the ******* Porsche is faster than an EVO.

I was talking used...I should have specified. The x50 does not carry over that $18k price into resale.
As far as the base 911 for $69k, I bet you can't find one on the lot for less than $80k.
