MSRP is 69K, along with the other prices, but i agree with you there that you probabally wont find one for less than 80 for another year or two. I personally think it is very hard to compare the two cars. Yes the 997 is faster.... Yes the evo is a steal for 30 grand.... but numbers aside i think it comes to what YOU want out of the car. If you want something to have fun with on the track get an evo. if you want the social status then get the 997.

Anyone else here seen the new Road and Track acceleration numbers for the 997S?
0-60 in 3.9 seconds
1/4 in 12.3@114.8
Looks like a stock evo wouldn't stand a chance, even from a stop.

Would you guys quit talking up the Porsche, this is an Evo board!
Well......did you race him yet? I would guess in the 1320 you would be about 10 cars back. Only about 5 cars back at 60mph. Now if you can launch the Evo well, you might get him scared off the line, therefore causing him to floor it and spin the tires. This could get you within a couple cars by the 1320. Hurry up and race, I can't wait to see the results!

A stock Evo isn't anywhere near the 997S - I should know; I traded my 326 WHP Evo in for one.
Hmmm...I know you from another site.

Damn, I'm always impressed with the numbers Porsche gets. How the hell do they do a mid 12 sec. quarter with those trap speeds with only 355 hp!?!?!?!? The C5 Z06 'vette runs that with 50 extra hp.

Oh well, I can always dream.

What ever people. Aleast his T-case won't break and the dealership treats him with respect and dignity. Oh yeah and he has leather in place of plastic, navi in place of a single din **** radio, rear engine N/A making sick power, and a rolex instead of a timex. Come on people I love the Evo but the porsche kills it in every aspect and yes even in the mountain run.

You people make RWD sound like its a freaking handicap!! In the right hands RWD will dominate all. Look at the C5 vette team in le mans rapping the audi's on a daily basis. My god even if the evo has a slim chance of winning the porsche still has a warrenty and is sooo comfortable for daily driving its just sick. No loud exhaust or huge wing, just pure sports/luxery in a nice little GT package.

In the end the porsche is made for people with money the evo is made for people who wish they had more money. Too different cars for two different types of people.

As my Co-worker just said. In the morning when you leave your apt (or parents house)your thinking about how to make your car faster and pay insurance while the porsche drivers biggest problem is deciding which car he wants to drive in his three car garage.

Having the motor sitting over the rear wheels is one hell of a traction aid

I'm not so sure about that part. My buddy has a Porsche and the dealer here screwed up his clutch install pretty bad. The thing was pouring tranny fluid all over the driveway. He had to take it back like three times. On the last trip, the tech tells him, "Well, I can't get it to leak...and I drove it for 200 miles today!"

200 MILES?!? Can you believe 1. The tech did that and 2. He told him! Unbelievable!

I believe the question was can a stock evo beat a stock 997? So answer the question instead and not talk about how much more the Porsche cost.

oh yeah and no I don't think the evo will win.....

Ichiban - thats some messed up stuff BUT he probably had a loaner car for the period of time that the dealership had his car. My car was in the shop for about a week and they didn't even offer me a loaner.
