Talking Dumb Dealers

I've read about the cool dealer who sell at MSRP but now we need a thred about the dumb dealers

In trying too find a dealer to buy from i have come across 3 dealers(in CA) that were realy dumb...

The first was Davis The guy i talked to said the Evo was limited production and was selling 10K over MSRP. (I could buy an 8 for that)

The second dealer i don't remember which one said "I don't know anything except it may be coming in Feb."

The third was in El Cerrito. i just thought this was funny cus' the sales guy didn't speak english and gave me dirctions from Sacramento(where i live) to the dealer in southern california when i said "I want info on the Evo"

So whats the worst person you've had to deal with.

Not to burst your bubble but there are more about bad dealers than good. Good luck though. Hopefully you can find the car you want at a price that's reasonable to you.

Okay that was a bit harsh... fact is that it's been well established that

a) Dealers don't know ****. They don't know **** about what's on their lot, normally, and they definitely don't know **** about stuff that ISN'T on their lots. Given, there are exceptions, there's a dude named Vincent at my local dealership, Huggins Mitsubishi, that's an enthusiast, and browses these forums. If he reads this, dude, you rule.

b) Dealers are going to try and rape everyone who get's the intial release Evos. It's not going to be a limited production, but a limited release, so, they're probably going to "PS2" the Evo and make it as expensive and hard to get in the first few months as possible. I mean, look at what happened with the WRX and S2000 if you have any doubts about that.

The initial release is only a few hundred cars. Total annual production will be 5-7,000 units max. That's pretty limited.

IMHO, the dealer who admitted he knew nothing about the Evo is the best salesperson. He's not feeding you bs'y info.

In a world of Accords and Camrys, where 400,000 units sold per year is the norm, 5-7k is fairly limited. But Camrys and Accords also appeal to a much broader scope of car buyers than the Evo ever will.

In the world of Enthisuast automobiles (porsche, Mclass BMW's, Fast Acuras, Sseries Audis, etc), 5-7k yearly production is about normal.

I talked to this guy down here at Fort Lauderdale Mitsubishi and asked about the Evo VIII and he had no idea what I was talking about, and keep telling me that we were getting the Evo VII. Pssh, retard... Or maybe at this time they were still "keeping it a secret"...

depends on your point of view.

total production of M coupe was under 6000cars world wide. that from 98-02.

another example VW 337, total imported to US 1500 and I was able to secure one for MSRP. (but I ended up not buying because of the idiot dealer)

5-7K/year is not that limited.

We're talking about cars that people actually want here.

all 1500 337s were sold out.

and i guess you were refering to the M coupe.

4G63_Attack, I think you should start looking for a better dealer.

I know what I would do. Wait another year (possibly less) and buy a Lotus Elise II or MB C32.

If I go with the Elise II I'll drop in the K20A2 in it. (or rather have prototype do it)

It's not EVO but it'll be a nice substitute.
