Unhappy everyone shed a tear for me!!!

my yellow 03 evo caught on fire this morning. i won't discuss details until the ins co decides if they are going to cover it. i will try to get pics of the aftermath b4 it gets towed.

holy crap man im sorry to hear that. i would die if that ever happened to me. let us know what happened and what insurance plans to do. i dont know if i can stand to see a burnt up evo but curiosity killed the cat so post some pics. sorry.

most everything plastic is melted including 1/2 the battery, top of radiator, filter, fuse box, wiper nozzle, vacuum hoses, filter suction pipe. bov may be damaged, wiring to fuel injectors melted, spark plug cover gone, hood partially destroyed (may be salvagable).

i will say this, those Perrin silicon hoses held up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had 2 foot high flames coming out the hood vent & the hoses never went!!! there isn't even coolant leaking. i highly recommend silicon hoses on ALL cars. they have a breakdown temp of about 338F.

upper i/c pipe damage also. car has to be towed so i will run home after work, grab the digicam & get the pics in about 2 hours.

Sorry to hear what happened...glad to see nobody got hurt. Hope your insurance covers the damage!

So the hint is "rain protection", well that isn't an easy one...Hmmm...did you put rainX or something of that nature on and it somehow caused a fire in your engine bay? (it doesn't make sense to me either)

FOR GOD SAKES! Spread the word before this happens to someone else!
