Isn't 5W-30 listed directly in the Mitsu Owner's Manual as an acceptable alternative?
I don't see the problem in using it. Mitsu has lots of engineers who study all this crap and that is their answer. Granted, you don't need the cold start help, it is still listed in their "official" documentation.

I'm with a 0W30 Castrol SLX. Mitsubishi only recommends this oil for me. Nowadays, the tech inside engine oils is tremendous. Don't worry about thinner oils, but it has to be 100% synthetic.
If you go at redline oil web site you will see that thinner oils provides more top end power, if you go at AMS oil test web site you will see that thinner oils provide greater Hp after 4000rpm and below this mark all engine oils provide the same hp.
You have to see if the engine oil is API SL = newer classification and if it is ACEA A3/B3 = high performance cars.

Anyways there were a few types of motor oil from HKS, Greddy etc...mostly popular tuner brands and they were 15W 50 or similar but no 10W 30. Im sure their oils are for modified and turbo cars. I guess you cant go wrong using the type of oil they recommend

im sure you already thought of this..but your dealership service or parts dept. should carry some. however, itll run you around 8$ / qt. ideally an autoparts store would carry it for about 3-$4 / qt.
At last resort, try to find some 5w-30 instead of the 10w-30. the 5 weight should work fine, and is recommended in very cold temperatures.

Yea Taiwan's never cold, even in winter. So i know what you're going through. In the states Costco has 6 quarts of 10w-30 and 5w-30 mobil 1 synthetic for $23.33 which is rougly around 900NT Dollars? But that's the US. Check the costco at Nei-Hu i think it's that place and see if that costco has the oil, and if i remember correctly there's a auto part store right next to it called "yellow hat" or something like that. Hopefully that helps. I haven't been in taiwan for a year so i forgot if its the costco at nei-hu or shih-chih, but i'm pretty srue its nei-hu. Good Luck w/ that.
