looking at buying a evo mitsu said it had record of a boost controller
I am looking at buying a evo. I had mitsu look up the warranty for me and it said boost controller then it said need aproval of rep for warranty work on powertrain. Has anyone delt with this? The guy at the dealer said its possible the powertrain warranty would be voided if something happen. I dont see how a boost controller would cause say a syncro in the transmission to go bad etc.... Do these motors not last that well and the transmissions im not going to race the car etc or do holeshots, and the car has 15,000 miles. Should i be okay or with the engine lasting or could something possibly break?
I thought Mitsu has used this engine and set up for mor than a few years now. I belive it is a solid engine but business' are stingy and don't want to pay for a repair that they can blame you for.
Its used from just a auto dealer not a mitsu dealer. The guy at the dealer i called he said it wasnt flagged that it would have to be inspected by a rep which he said they have to do anyhow to get approved of motor work etc. The motors are pretty strong of they should be they should last to atleast 60,000 shouldnt they?

Don't do it!! You don't need a headache before you buy the car man. Mitsubishi alredy knows the car has a boost controller, they DONT LIKE BOOST CONTROLLERS ( to many problems can come out of somebody who doesnt know what their doing playin with boost levels) They will give u headaches if u try to get stuff warrantied. Be smart , keep looking for a clean Evo!
Or negotiate the cost of an extended warranty through an aftermarket warranty company and have the dealership eat the cost if he cant sell you a car that can be guranteed to be Warrantied by Mitsu

There are a lot of Evos out there. Don't get it, find one with a warrenty, or one with an expired warrenty (over 36K).
The dealer is already starting to mess with you, and you do not own the car yet. Not worth it. There are a lot of them out there, the Mits people just want you to get one from them, they probably have a few.
Just buy my Evo. JK.......kind of.

you may be able to get a good deal on this one if you tell them the warranty is no good because of the boost controller. honestly you will probably find youreslf with one eventually on whichever evo you buy. i would negociate the best deal possible and have them buy you an aftermarket warranty if possible.
i was thinking i may be able to get it cheap I doubt I would honestly ever take the car to the dealer never know though. Who does aftermarket warrantys and how does that exactly work?
