they're comparable, but I wouldn't say one is better than the other.

I can tell you that a stock boxter can NOT hang with a stock EVO. it wasnt even close... pulled on it about the same as a stock stang.

just let the guy at work say whatever he wants... you know better

Pull on boxster on auto x? ok.... how do you do that?

Drag racing, even boxster s wouldn't compare to evo, but in track, it's a different story.

you're basically comparing rear engine/ rear drive or mid engine / rear drive car to awd.

depends on driver I think in auto x. IN road course, evo rulez!

just find the video of the Evo 7 RS that crashes on the track. Before it crashes it drifts some corners and still manages to accelerate past porsches and lotuses. Just don't show him the crash though as it'll give him more moron ammo.

well my porsche is 17 years old and faster in a straight line from a roll then my evo. additionally at autocrosses i race in street mod2 and the porsche outperforms evos most of the time. keep in mind my car is modded enginewise, but stock suspension. if i did suspension work, the evo wouldn't stand a chance on the track. BUT if you mod an evo i'm sure it would hand it to my porsche. but your comparing apples to oranges. my porsche including all the mods i have has a sticker price half that of the evo. i could dump another 15gs and most evos would get dusted anywhere but the drag strip (which i don't give two ****s about anyway). last, the 944 turbo is faster then a boxster S. i have raced one on the highway and he couldn't hang.

That should put things in perspective for him. As you can see, the truely "track tuned" porsches (the GT3 and GT3 RS, and Carreras) are indeed faster than the Evo. However, the 911 Turbo (which is one of the only Porsches that 99% of Porsche-wanna-be-enthusiasts know about...the other one being the Boxter) is slower than an STi or an S4....and that's pretty sad. </end shamless STi and S4 bashing>

Porsche 911 Carrera S - 1.28.9 (very wet)
Mitsubishi Evo VIII - 1.28.9

I think it's great that they put the "very wet" disclaimer on there. I guess Porsche owners were complaining that there is no way in hell that an Evo runs just as fast as a Carrera S. However, when they tested the Evo FQ-400, it was also on a "very wet" track. It will be interresting to see if they add that disclaimer for a lowly Mitsubishi (it did it in 1.24.8, in case you are wondering).

he thinks a boxster can outperform an evo?

there's no use arguing with him. just tell him when he gets the porsche d*ck out of his mouth and **** and opens his eyes, you'll continue the conversation. till that time he needs to either learn how to respect other people and look outside his little box and realize that there's a whole world outside just waiting to be explored or simply face the fact that he's got no brain and can't look at anything other than the price tag--clearly he has insecurities if he takes to laughing in other people's faces over cars.

Some people will never understand. especially this type.
The evo will hang with a lot of them if not outrun them on the road course.
Ive driven a lot of porsches hard. and the evolution, On and off the race track.
Ive had no problems with boxsters and 911's on the road course... but never had a chance to go up against the likes of a GT3 or GT2 in which i know my *** would get handed to me.
I love the evolution but after pushing a GT3 to the limit ive fallen in love with this german beauty. I would take one over the Turbo any day. even the GT2...
the GT2 is just too much IMO. the GT3 is just right.
O.T. and not trying to high jack but pm me if anyone is going to daytona for the rolex.
