GlobalGB,
I certainly agree with you, but I'm a sucker for plug and play. Finding a mapper you can really trust is no easy task. Besides, the emissions laws here in California are so strict, it would be easier to pop out the ECU for smogging and then pop it in again.

I'm with GlobalGB on this....I'd go for Motec or Autronics, however I can't see why a ralliart ECU wouldn't work on a LHD evo...I think all the engine electrics and ECU are the same aren't they? I know that you have 271bhp in your standard VIII, but I'm not sure if that's just restricted somehow....basically what I'm trying to say is, I'm not 100% sure, probably best to ask someone who knows more about the oily bits of evos

I think there is a specific part number for the LHD ECU, you can order the actual part from:

http://www.coordsport.com/NewsArticl...bankdetails=22

edited to add:

Give them a ring to see if they have one for the 8 GSR

Also you can have multiple 'profiles' for the M800 (maybe the same for GEMS/Autronics but i can't comment) - an emission friendly profile and your 'lunatic' profile.

But I do agree with you with regards to the mapper part, a good mapper is worth his/her weight in gold.

GlobalGB,
Thanks so much for the info, good stuff, I'll drop them an email.

Kly3cook,
I would think so too, but I read somewhere that it may not work with LHD and I could not find anyone in the US who has one as of now.

Tureno-AE86=OWNED, and your joke sucked btw! Marrying his car? WTF man? Are we in 4th fuxing grade? Damn, and I thought I was the youngest on here being 15...

Very cool Ky3lcook, if I ever visit europe, I will have to hunt you down and steal your car for a bit...after I drunk you up to your limit (hey I'm 15, but a russain :P) . Your evo is to die for, especailly with that incredible interior: with the auto climate control the smaller, grippier seats for normal european asses vs. fat american asses, the black steering wheel, and other things of that nature. Next time you go onto the top speed run course, get a video from a dead stop all the way to top speed and you will be my hero .
Good luck with future driving and modding and please post more funny ****...the whole bread and milk thing killed me...I had everyone in my Techinal Drawing class laughing their asses off!

that is by far one of the best looking EVOs ive seen. I wish we got cars like that over here. Your lights, cluster, 6-speed tranny, rims, seats, are all much better than we get over here (with the exception of the MR guys). Very nice car

Anyone notice that in the 03's there is that same panel that comes off right there with nothing behiend it? How come? The AYC wasn't out in 03 was it? Maybe on just the UK and J-Spec Evo's?

AYC was first introduced in the 96 Evo 4.

The non-US spec 8 and MR have "Super-AYC."

kyl3cook,
Thanks so much for all the pics and the entertainment. I've topped out my VIII at 160...dead on 160 by the speedo with the stock tires...there wasn't any more to go except maybe a couple of mph if I'd had more road. I thought I was supposed to be limited by the ECU to 157, but it just climbed past it. What a great looking ride you've got.

As for the following jackaxes:

zaverdi
Dude-what
moab3man
ex-honda
and Mr Evolution....

you guys need to step up. As for me, I found it pretty damn clear in the original pictures that the "lights" that you were seeing were just the plastic coverings of the lights which were colored yellow. Didn't look at ALL like they were lit. But you buteds call the guy full of bs right out of the box without a thought. You all should step up and say "oops...my bad"

As for Tureno-AE86, he did so. So did evolved04.

kuba23, on the other hand is beyond hope. Dude, if you do meth too long, you start to have paranoid delusions and hallucinations. Hasn't anyone warned you about that? You're STILL on the guy's aczx after all the pics with the milk and bread and all??? Get a grip...that was HILLarious. Totally class move to go actually get the pic and post it.

Anyway, I just thought I'd hold a few accountable to their attacks and say that if a stock (bone stock) Evo VIII does 160, I don't think it's such a stretch to ponder the idea of an FQ-320 doing another 20mph top end.
