Scum-Bag Thief...Need help!
Well, the other night while I was in my living room some low life punk *** got into my garage, took pictures of my Evo and stole my keys and keyless entry fob. Before anyone flames me for keeping my keys in the car, understand that I live in a small town and in the same neighborhood for the last 8 years. Never any problems before.
The investigating oficer stated that they take pix of the car and steal the keys to present to their dealer to show what they can steal for repayment in drugs. Re-keying all the locks is $687.00 from the dealership. I went to a locksmith and re-keyed the two door locks and the trunk for $135.00. I am installing a theft system on Monday and diabling the stock entry system and replacing with an aftermarket set-up.
My question is...if I don't want the siren in the engine bay, where is the best place put it? Is the trunk an acceptable place?

where is the stock one? and i leave my sti in the garage locked with alarm on at all times and keys in house. the evos and stis look more expensive than they are never do that again bro its CRAZY!! lol
all they have is an ignition kill wired thru the keyless entry. that's it. you should do 2 sirens. 1 in the engine bay & 1 inside the car. this setup is highly recommended for any car worth any kind of money. Viper has a new alarm also that you can track anywhere from any computer & there is also a company that can wire your alarm to be controlled thru your cell phone. both pricey but ask yourself if it's worth it.

Yea, I'm actually headed for the local Lowes to get an infared sensor for the garage that has an alarm remotely located in the house. I'd love to catch some punk in my garage. Wouldn't be pretty.
The only problem with installing the siren under the hood is I'm rapidily running out of room. Additionally, I really don't like the looks of it located there. That's why I asked about the trunk.

Hey, if I could run 240 volts to the door handle I would. Light the little biotch up like a Christmas tree. The keys in the car is a lesson well learned. Like I said before, small town, quiet neighborhood, years without any problems. Never again.

Am I the only one that noticed that the person broke into your garage, took pictures and then took the keys, indicating that the person probably knew that you leave your keys in the garage. IMO, its pretty idiotic that you'd leave your keys in the car, but how many people actually do that? I doubt theives even consider the possibility that you leave the keys in the car without knowing somehow before hand. Just a thought. To answer the question, I had my Avital alarm siren placed behind the bumper, a bit left of the intercooler. There is room in that location assuming you have the stock FMIC like I do.
Trunk would not be great place cause it wont be very loud. If you go under the car its ok but then very easy to bypass. I would suggest somewhere like insied the front bumper or fender, if you really dont want it under the hood. Also look into the viper pager so even if your siren is bypassed you will have some notice. Have a good installer do the install, I have been installing for 5+ years now and let me tell you the install is more important than the equipment.
I arm my car in the garage and take the faceplate every night. Paranoid.

We can agree on ill advised. Obviously it wasnt the smartest thing in the world, but at this point you arent really in that poor of shape. Luckily they didnt take off with the car. Live and learn.
