Thank God For The STi!

Also in autocross it may mean actually having to perform shifts which would not be good.
On road race courses it may have a small advantage.
Remember it is not likely to have an "extra" gear at the top of a normal five speed, it will have closer packed gears, which I feel uneccesary on a car with such a broad power band.

With the way most of these guys think, I should design a 7 speed. Since 7>6, it must be better! I'd make a fortune.
I think this is stupid.
We have no clue, as of yet, how each tranny works. These are all assumptions, which are in fact, quite lame. All we need now are those Calvin peeing on brand 'x' stickers.

Ok, to address a concern posted WAY back at the beginning of this thread....
Yeah, the STi DOES have better repair costs than the Evo. From what I've read of the British versions of both cars, the Evo requires much more maintenace than the STi, and has less reliability. But it was a much more extreme car. I'm as much of an Evo fan as anybody else here, but the STi is a wonderfully well built machine. It wasn't as hard edged as the Evo, but it was more reliable. And since our American Evo's aren't going to be as hard edged as they could be, then either A: The reliability will go up a lot, or B: The STi is fixing to pull down Mitsubishi's pants, and spank a little hiney!

The US Evo will be cheaper to maintain than the UK Evo because of the lack of AYC. AYC requires that the fluids be changed every 5k miles or something like that. Cant remember the exact schedule.
Fluid change on the AYC isnt simple either, judging from the manual.

speaking of 7-speeds the Nissan Murano (sp?) is supposed to have a 7 speed CVT in it's highest form. They are sorta using that baby ute as a testbed for that tranny. Nissan is thinking that the forthcoming R35 would be the showcase car for this new tranny.... also, doesn't the Ferrari Enzo have a 7 speed seq gearbox? I can't find an article either way right now, but I remember reading speculation about a 7 speed in that car.

I suppose your car comes with an AI driver as well?

Don't need all that crap. One, maybe two of those items...but the rest can rot.

In my opinion though, those tools make the Evo 8 for what it is.

You can get 350 with just a boost controller, but then you could have 360 with some IT adjustment...

Depends a lot on the torque as well; 350 bhp are available at 6500 rpms, not at 4000 or 4500 where you launch. With 350 bhp, you''l have around 300 - 320 ft/lbs of torque depending on how you set the boost.

I was just thinking about the movie something about mary when he is in the car with the psycho talking about 7 minute abs. He then gets all jerky when Ben mentions 6 minute abs. Sorry for the off topic banter.
