Thank God For The STi!

Reading all the crazy threads from the last couple of days I haven't seen this brought up....competition is good! Sti's shot across 's bow is just the kick in the *** (and we) needed. Let the Rally Replica Wars begin! Imagine how much better these cars will be in a couple of years as this escalates and don't forget the battle that will rage in the aftermarket. Repeat after me: COMPETITION IS GOOD!!!

We'll also see Ford enter the battle (with an AWD turbo Focus)and the R32 Golf (which was in Detroit) and Honda/ Acura will have to do something or risk losing their place as the "tuners choice" and Nissan has pledged to bring in the new Skyline (though it's in a different class price wise). Don't finance that new EVO for too many years or spend your last penny moddin' it because you'll want something new and really trick in a few years. These two cars (in their current configuration) are just the beginning (it's about damn time!)

Right on! I have been using that same quote for my V8 friends, for what seems like now, forever!

Funny part... to get your Evo8 to 300hp+ will still probably cost less than an STi.

And don't forget all the money on maintenance. If you figure somwhere 10000-15000 miles in a year, that'll be one set of tires (minimum), 3 set of clutches (again, minimum, especially w/ your 300 hp motor),what's that gonna cost? Anybody got an price for a clutch exchange for the Evo? I've read about at least 2 Evo's that had 3 sets of clutches after 6000 miles!

Tell me there's not as much, or more cost associated with an STi? The tires coming on the STi will be just as soft as the ones coming on the Evo.

As we all know clutch wear is ALL about the driver. Claudius says that the stock clutch will handle up to 350hp (as long as you don't try to launch the thing in the dry)

Well not really, With already high 135.5HP/L output on the EVO using 91 pump gas, it will be harder to boost more HP without some serious mod. Plus how are you going to upgrade AVCS, drive by wire, DCCD, Suretrac electronic front LSD, 6 speeds tran? I m hoping you are not just going to DRAG race your EVO.
