What is your reason to buy EVO like car?
I like everything about the car! Mostly, the AWD and turbo. Ya gotta love a 'Street-legal' race car! I like it's looks and it's specs. To be able to have a machine of it's capabilities at an affordable price is unheard of.
Being from Pittsburgh, a relative blue-collar town, most people around here are domestic muscle-car fans. But there's a huge draw back to that interest here, the weather and terrain. There simply are no straight roads longer that a few hunders yards! I want something that handles! To have a performance car that can hang with all the best...all year 'round...is an awesome endeavor for me. Yeah, there's another car in it's class that offers similar function, but it's not for me.
One Silver EVO please...

Why I'm buying an evo? Well, I still don't know if I certainly will be, but what it looks like is that I'll probably try to pick up a used one sometime next year (2004). I'm 18 and my parents don't want me to have a car during my freshman year at college, even though I would be allowed to where I want to go (RIT). My dad thinks that it would be a good experience for me.... I guess I'll find out. Right now I drive an XR4Ti. It's got RWD and a little over 200hp when I'm pulling full boost (which I've never done :-P). Right now I run 10psi. I just love driving this car. I drive fast, I suppose, but not insanely so. I've probably only redlined the car twice. I've learned how to drive this car. And after my current car, I'm bored driving weak, soft cars. Plus AWD will be a big plus in snow New York.
The Evo for me is an excellent compramise car. It isn't that super fast, it isn't super luxury, it is something inbetween that I can drive year around, hauling enough gear for a long weekend without feeling cramped. On top of this it will handle well, accelerate quickly, and look distintive, yet stealty (besides that huge wing anyway!)
I am tired of making two car payments, so this is the best single car I can come up with. That and I fell in love with the Evo when I was in England the first time.

Well for me, I've ALWAYS been interested in high-performance vehicles since before I could walk. I started as most young boys do drooling over the totally 80's Lamborgini and Ferrari posters. Driving always felt like the most natural thing one could possibly do; as natural as breathing, and thus, driving fast wasn't but a step behind. But as I've matured into an adult (25 so not THAT much of an adult yet), my dislike for over-styled sports cars has increased dramatically and I'm liking the sleeper look more and more. To top it off, there's NOTHING cooler than rally. So combine the high-performance sports car, put it in a subdued semi-regular body (now I know the big wind isn't sleeper-esque, it's still a must in my opinion), AWD, and complete affordability, SOLD! Ah, but you know what? The MAIN reason is I'm sick of my girlfriend complaining about being shoved into the tiny back of my Prelude when my taller friends get in the car. No need for that with 4dr.

Have you ever fallen in love with something but you couldn't quite get anyone you know to understand why? That's my reason.

my reason...enough said
My reasons for wanting an evo8.
The evo has always been the car of my dreams, ever since the evo5. I have had my evo6 since 2000 but imagine having an evo and not being able to drive it on the street. The suffering I've gone through. Only using it once every couple of months at races. Its torture. Now with a USDM evo my suffering is over, if I can get my dad to sell our 6 and purchase an 8
. Been waiting for 3 years.
Anyway, those are my reasons.

Well, I want an Evo or Sti because I'm sick of upgrading a mediocre platform. I've spent approx. 6 grand on my Camry, and what do I have? A camry that handles all right, but to get it to acceptable levels I'd have to drop another 6 or so (LSD, supercharger, flywheel, clutch, headers, S-AFC, labor and tune).
I also want to start autocrossing. No fun in a Camry (Ok, it would be fun in a Camry, but it'd be more fun in an Evo : ) )
I want a platform that handles well and is easily upgradeable (read stock forced induction). Whichever car I get I will do an immediate intake/turbo-back exhaust, fuel computer or boost controller upgrade, then back off a little. Later on some other stuff.
That's why I'm choosing Evo/Sti. Besides, I've had my car for 6 years. Time for an upgrade.

Finally, the question....what is your reason for buying an EVO like car and not buying something else?
Because they are rally cars, the most exciting motorsport and they're built into somewhat practical and affordable cars. I almost bought an rally car in 1982 (a used, 170 or so hp Volvo 142, street registered but purpose built) after fracturing my kneecap and couldn't race motorcycles for a while but realised there was way too much maintenance (to be racing it) and decided against it.

I have always been a fan of driving fast, but for the past few years I have owned a truck. Not fast and not race car handling. I had always wanted Mustang 5.0 when I was in highschool. A few years into college I was fortunate enough to total my little chevy s-10 and get into a used '84 Mustang. I was almost glad that I did not own one in highschool as that was way too much power for a dumb young kid. After the Mustang I went through 2 more trucks and started to get tired of going slow. Got rid of the truck and got the Lancer and started to read about the Evo. Was very impressed with the handling of the Lancer and realized that if the Evo is supposed to handle many many times better than the little Lancer then damn that is a car for me. Right now my plans are to buy the Evo (maybe STi but still leaning towards the Evo) and eventually AutoX it. I will most likely start AutoX'ing the Lancer next month to begin the process of increasing my driving skills. Then when I feel comfortable I will unleash the beast on the AutoX track. Speed and handling are the next best things in life (I thing we all can figure out the best
) Oh yeah almost forgot had a Yamaha 1200cc V-Max for a couple of years and loved to go fast on it but as I get older the ground starts to look harder and my imagination gets more vivd about the consequences of kissing asphalt at 115mph. I prefer to go fast with 4 wheels instead of 2 now.

made this impression on you?I had an Eclipse GSX and WRX. I hated
for really bad quality. Plenty of squeaks, rattles (moonroof
), stupid problems because something was not tight properly during assembly. WRX experience on the other hand was like night and day.I wonder how you can tell EVO VIII is like BMW. Really, tell me.
I always liked AWD cars. When I could I got a GSX. Then somebody decided to pull in front of me from a stop sign and I died. I was afraid to get a used one cause too many of them were treated badly but ... WRX appeard.
So I got WRX and went to a track. I figured it has enough power but has very bad brakes and too much understeer and body roll. I was then putting together numbers how much would upgrade cost me. I figured to do all I want I would be in a STi/EVO range.
Then another idiot decided to make a U turn without looking and sent me on the pole. From this time I am driving a Honda beater waiting for STi/EVO and hoping I'll not meet another idiot or at least another one will give me a chance to save my car.
Another important thing is: I want to drive a car I do not have to worry about. If I will have a small accdent on the track I would spend a lot less fixing EVO/STi then M3.

My reason is simple. I want it.
I currently have a 00 M Coupe and a 01 C320 which is used as the commute car.
I have a MINI Cooper S on order as well.
I'll most likely buy a Lancer Evolution next year unless I can get a good deal this year.
I like the car for what it is and none of the other cars I have or will have in the near future can fullfil that role.
However, by the time 2005 comes rolling by I'll sell the Lancer and buy the Lotus Elise II because I want it too and I don't have enough driveway space for all of them.
