I wonder how you can tell EVO VIII is like BMW. Really, tell me.
I'm talking about all the new Mitsubishi's today... go to your local showroom and crawl around some of them... they feel very solid. They have no where the luxury as something like a BMW, but in a solid, well together piece of machinery, they feel good. Mits has really stepped it up in their fit and finish part of their business.

I've driven a WRX and it just felt like a little compact 4 door cheap sedan w/ a turbo charged engine in it. It really didn't wow me like I thought it should. I'm really hoping that the Evo does... and from all I read, I don't see how it wouldn't.

My GSX was from 1998.

I did many times when I had my GSX maintenace. I only noticed better quality on SUVs Made in Japan.

High time. But I do not see much difference.

I doubt EVO would make any better experience then WRX. Actually most people which saw both (previous models) agree Subaru is a little upper class from EVO. From pictures EVO looks cheaper inside then STi. Not that it matters though.

As regards quality, I think the EVO is a perfect example of Mitsu quality without even seeing it - they've cut everything they can to improve their profit. I would not trust Mitsu quality at all. My 95 DSm is just so much better built than my 98 it's a joke. And 99s are no better either. Nor are the 3G Eclipses I've been in. I will believe in Mitsu quality when I have 125,000 miles on a new Mitsu and it remains as rust-free and problem-free as my 95. God knows, I wish my 98 was as well-built as my 95 ! If one were to compare the two cars, one would be convinced the 98 was at least a decade older than the 95, just based on the rampant rust, never mind anything else. Never mind the deletion of all the little touches, like trim screw covers.

Don't bet on Mitsu quality - based on their recent vehicles it simply isn't there. If I were to buy a 3rd DSM, I'd be looking for the oldest, not the newest. Oh wait - I already did that - Katy's is an early 95 (Aug 94 build) :-)

I might be an AWD turbo Mitsu fan, but I'm also a realist.

For me it's more than 271hp..If it were that simple I'd continue to upgrade my talon, but it's not. To me it's overall looks, performance and the way they blend together. In addition, the support from Ralliart. That support I think is most important as they know the 4G63 engine inside and out.

gtr- I'll have you know the EVO is being built in Normal, Ill. not Japan. The co I work for works with and I had a peek at a build spec on the cars coming from various places back in July and it showed the EVO coming from Normal, Ill. However, that could have changed....

since when would the Evo be built outside japan...the tool up cost to build it here would cost more than importing them

That doesn't make sense to me. I wish I could remember how we had established they were being made in Japan. I'll have to search some threads again.

Just a question, i was always curious how long does it take a normal car company to put together a car. No guessing unless you really know. Anyoine know numbers on outputs of cars per week, day, month or what not.. If anyone ever worked in the industry?
