months and months of secrecy, for what!!
There was a rash of "dyno racers" on the MLR forums recently as well. It's virtually the same argument only involving different products. On those forums there are a bunch of arguments between Evo owners as to who has the better performing car and most are basing their opinions on dyno results not track results. I guess my point is just like most everyone else's. The argument is pointless....move on and buy another car if your opinion is so easily influenced.

look, I understand that numbers aren't everything, I owned an ITR that embarassed many at the track. fully schooled at Limerock, dont think they have many national tracks in Wisconsin. No "magazine racer" here.
You do realize that being a EVO fan isn't enough to fight for it. I have never driven one, therefore I cannot defend it totally. I will buy one, It will be a great car, but I feel that Mitsu needed to jump into this war with the bigger stick, and I guarantee you that the corporate leaders at mitsu aren't too happy about the new STI. Why will I still buy one? because Im pushing my budget with 30k, and I feel that the EVO is and will be great, although a notch below the STI. I guess we'll have to see. Oh,and you can tell me to go away when you learn how to fully rebuild and diagnose an engine.
sorry....

I think you contradicted yourself... you're saying Mitsubishi screwed up with the Evo because the Sti was a better car, feature for feature, but that you will get the Evo because it fits your budget? If the Evo was as much as the Sti and has AYC/ACD, etc then you may not get either! At least this way we have both cars and a choice and I'm 100% sure the next Evo will be even better. You have to start somewhere.Mark

Uh - I guess you have never heard of Road America?!?!?! - - - In Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Undeniably one of (if not) THE best road coarse in North America.
And I live in Northern Canada - and I have been there several times.
Mitsu may have been prepared for subaru's tactics
For those of you who couldn't make it through the dry unveilling broadcast from the evo site.
Mitsu execs announced that bringing the evo also means bringing Ralli Art. As well that there would be Ralli Art editions of the evo, very much like the STi edition of the wrx. Now I remain hopefull that mitsu planned to include the ACD, AYC, and 6 speed in this car. However if they didn't mean to imply that, I hope that the STi does well to encourage Mitsu to deliver the electronic goodies (and maybe more power too!)
So I will wait till i owe less on my ES than the trade in value, and hopefully by then we will have the real version of the evo

Nope, no Ralliart Evo..at least for a while. I told there WILL be a Ralliart edition Lancer that will be along the lines of the Mazda MP3. Right now Ralliart will not have a big performance involvement with the Evo here in the US. I'm sure the Evo will be "improved" for the next model year as most models are.

Mitsu could have at least preped him on what to say!
i have a awd stealth twin turbo now. it has 300 hp stock. it is so heavy it will only accelerate 5.7 seconds to 60 mph. i had over 450 hp in it before i demodified it and i could still only achieve high to mid 12's. its a nice and sexy car, but somewhat of a boat. thaqts why im looking forward to the evo. the STi will most likely be heavier, and will acellerate slower... i say scoobie needed to make it have DCCD and 300 hp just to keep up with the evo with no acd and only 271 hp. but if you look at past evos, they have actually had alot more hp than they said... whos to say the us spec evo 8 wont have more than 271 hp?

It's all numbers people... WAIT until they are actually tested.

I'm actually considering STi b/c of DCCD and 2.5 liter (more
power potential)...
dont care about 6 speed and others...
Feb video of Best Motoring will race the new STi (2.0 turbo) and
STi spec C against EVO7 GSR and RS...
The STi's performance has always been behind the EVO's...
(at least from the many Best Motoring vidoes I watched)... I really
want to see if DCCD will make the difference needed for STi's to
beat EVOs....
