OBD II scan tool for laptops and pocketpc pda's

What tools are out there that is compatible with laptops and or pocketpc pda's at a good price? I've looked at the pocketlogger but too bad it wont work with pocketpc and it seems like it wont work with laptops as well.

Hey I see you programed the linux software version for them. Do you know if this will work with linux emulation on freebsd?

Better yet, it should run natively on any POSIX compliant platform. It's in python. All you really need is a working python interpreter, X windows, serial port suppport. All the BSDs should work, including OSX, as well as crazy systems like aix, irix, and probably even QNX.

That being said, pyobd isn't perfect and there's still some bugs. It works well enough to use though and there's not really any chance that you can damage anything with it.

EDIT: I just noticed that you were asking about my build of the 'official' scantool.net software, not my rewrite. Um. I dunno for that one. I'm not so up to date on how the linux-binary emulation works on freebsd. The Scantool.exe build that I distribute is a pretty standard 32bit-dynamically linked elf file. I only worry that ld.so.1 won't be able to resolve the dependencies:

linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0xb7fa1000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7f4f000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb7f4b000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0xb7e74000)
libXxf86vm.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXxf86vm.so.1 (0xb7e6e000)
libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0xb7e5d000)
libXxf86dga.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXxf86dga.so.1 (0xb7e56000)
libXpm.so.4 => /usr/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0xb7e46000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7d15000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fe9000)

Sorry if I just blew your mind. Give it a try. If you _did_ undertand everything I just said, then you will probably be able to make it work regardless. Have fun!

Also beware that you can't really use elm32x scantools for datalogging. They are much, much too slow.

That didn't quite come out right. You _can_ log, but only at about 2hz, which is much to slow for anything like tuning.
