I have a 2002 toshiba Satttelite laptop...it's older, but it suffices my needs mostly.


Here is my problem:

I bought a tactrix cable from tunertools.com... I have downloaded several "free" scan tool programs to read, and clear my CEL. BUT, when I connect the cable to the laptop (either to the car or not) It wont let me configure my access port to read the cable or car? My laptop shows the cable connected to com port #4, and the tactrix cable drivers are installed as well. BUT, it says that there is no connection to the car, and refuses to even read the CEL codes! I haven't even tried to log any runs at all, in fear that it won't read the car either with that program. I am not a master at PC programming, or troubleshooting. Anyone out there willing to help?

your ecu might be locked. i have the similar issues till one of my friends hooked up his loptop to my car. (he has the unlocker program) and it worked.
